    definitely needed this video before I walked into trying to figure out why my stuff wont line up since it sounds like I'll deal with some of the same. Also swapping from a BMR Crossmember to the Hooker because it just feels like it's mandatory for a street car with out the back exhaust. Going out today to see how my swap goes, mine's a T56/9" with an adjustable torque arm and I actually had hell getting the clamshell ta mount to fit on the BMR so I'm hoping somehow this ends up being easier lol

    Well I had been looking for a used T56 that didn't have 200,000 miles for a long time. I saw that drift guys were using these behind LS engines and thought that should work. I Looked a lot on the Internet and didn't see anyone putting one in a third gen. Now after all the work I know why. I would not recommend it to anyone else. Thanks for watching!

    Its hard to tell from the video, you cant feel the metal but if looks like you ended up with a workable piece. You just need to spend some time with a hammer and dolly and planish that roof. it looks like you have a knot at the crown running from the passenger side to the driver side right where the sunroofs start to narrow, just ahead of the oilcanning. I have no idea how capable you are when it comes to metal work ive just ran across your video, i dont want to seem insulting at all. if you are having trouble getting the panel straight and taking the stretch out of the metal, i would recommend you check out Carl Fishers channel called "Make it kustom" he's got a lot of great visual explanations about straigtining metal, with a hammer and dolly and i think he's got one video about quenching with an acetaline tourch. He's been the only one on youtube ive ever ran across that ive seen explain things properly and easy, highly recommended.

  • @ForsakenSteel
    @ForsakenSteelАй бұрын

    This is some excellent advice. I have watched Carl on the Make it Custom channel several times. He is a true talent. I am definitely not as good as him but I'm not a novice either. I'm currently doing metal fab for a living ( for the past 8 months) and doing it everyday has helped me grow. I truly appreciate the advice and you are spot on with what was happening to the roof. I couldn't get to the back of the panel to use a hammer and dolly very well. I encourage you to watch next week's episode where I fix all this garbage. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it more than you know.

    That repair looks great. If you're trying to fix junk you have to expect a less-then-perfect repair. That roof clearly needed to be cutoff and start with a new straight replacement. It's the reality of the situation. My younger brother had an '81 Cutlass Supreme. Was a pretty solid car. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
