Wow! I tendbto see faces in these abstract pieces. Look at the top right, all that yellow ochre, I can surely see a face.

I like how you went back in at the end and brought some marks back out in a way that would move the viewers eye around. Another thing you could do when the gesso or acrylic is 70% dry is flick or spray some water on. Leave it for a minute, then dab or gently wipe the water droplets off. The colour under the droplets create a really beautiful mottled texture effect. Got that from Gerda Lipski and Judy Woods.

Hi, yes its always good to use a discarded previous attempt at a painting. As you say the underpaintings add a little history. dont you just love it.❤

Thanks for showing this painting’. Some of my canvases have at least two previous renditions’ but creates history and add to the texture’ etc And of course there’s gesso!!! I like your additions to the painting and it brought it alive’. Something I’m familiar with as I seem to be going dark in my paintings I will blame the UK winter skies being very dull at the moment so some bright additions lift it’ and give contrast and if carefully done can be used to direct the eye to a focal or direct into the centre of the painting’ I recall somewhere telling me that people read paintings from left to right’ so it’s getting the balance right thanks again Sondra
