My name is Josef aka. "Niramas", I'm a 39 year old boardgamer from Sweden.
To help me out in making videos I got my good friend Drako, he is a stuffed little guy, we met some years ago at a casino in Gran Canaria, now he is my main opponent for runthroughs. Some human friends will make guest apperances aswell to show how to play some games with more than 2 players.

I cant remember where I had that written down, I know I googled for greenscreen paint, got a paint code and went to a store and asked them to mix it for me. I honestly havent used it much at all yet, just after I got the room finished I somehow lost my motiavtion to make videos, its been over a year but I still hope I will get back to it someday soon, the room is still here so :)

not happy w this unbox vid..,.. cant really see cards...
the assassination end game...ugh...not sure if im gonna play that, i mean many of these end games feels very lazy excecuted from the devs, like its feels like its only variants from eachother, not real standalones like w predator and alien that was much more fleshed out... i looked at them and i think first time its best to choose an end game from the start (maybe even the evidence cards(?) )..so the only ones that s seem a little interesting was colonization, disinformation and infiltration so I'll try them first, if i dont like em i dont think there is any reason to try the other ones at least not for me personally... im pretty sure the first one and purification will go into the trash,,the clone one im very sceptical about, same w the one u played now but im gonna try them i guess if the other three works...its kinda sad they didnt give the "bosses" more love cuz im pretty happy w the rest of the game, i mean it will never be as good as alien and predator snd the now new matrix but still, i was positivly surprised cuz when i saw it first time on the platform i was pretty turned of by the art, but im glad it didnt stop me tho😅
köpte i veckan och testade ikväll med ungarna, förutom att jag glömde vad alla effekter betydde samt flaggan på banan så kom vi igenom ett set utan större problem. Rekommenderar spelet, ungarna ville spela en gång till omedelbart. Tack för en bra video

Hi! I cant remember now its been so long and dont own the game anymore, but in general Id say they both have pros, Folded space are lighter and easy to use boxes in them and Eraptor is nicer if you like the wood style.

I noted this in the rulebook: Note: In a 2-player game as part of fulfilling an Order, the active player must also remove one available Order from any surrounding town from the game. Then add a Classic mint and a new Order as though the removed Order had been taken by a player.
Is there any reason in your nice 2 player game you don't do that?

I just got this for dune imperium uprising. I haven’t put immortal or rise of ix in because I have the deluxe upgrade pack. But what I can say is if you aren’t using the deluxe components there is enough storage solutions to store the components like tech tiles, and boards. But I have doubts this solution can store all the cards if they are sleeved
What are the loose cardboard pieces for? I got seven in my game. I noticed you got one when you first opened the box. Did you get more? Also, I got these small white stickers. 26 of them on one strip

Im not sure, this was Fryxgames prototype, I havent sleeved my copy of the finished game yet.

5:35 Polyphemos is one of the worst (if not the worst) corporation in the whole game. Aridor is one of the best corporations in the whole game. As Aridor you most likely get +4 MC production in gen 1 which is 2 more than Polyphemos (Polyphemos gets (5-3 MC) production if you buy 1,5 card per gen) I acknowledge wanting the challenge of playing Polyphemos. Extra colony is nice because even if you only trade on it only twice, you can get the pointer on the most right position. 7:10 Luna is the best colony (with Pluto) and Enceladus is average at best if you get some microbe card. You don't have any in you opening hand, which means your colony pointer will not progress for part of the game. 8:30 The argument about having a lot of money production does not work. You don't have a lot of money production (you only get 22 money per generation and no mineral production, which is almost always less than in non-solo player game after preludes) and even if you have a lot of production, it is still worth to get more. Don't forget you have Pluto, which can give you +3 cards per gen and you have card draw with Inventor's guild. (total of 8 cards per gen) 15:27 If you use Enceladus to put microbes on Psychrophiles then you get less money than if you use Luna. And you are less flexible, which means that if you don't play plant tags, your money will just hang on that card and you are unable to use it to get better economy. And the station placement on Luna (2 MC prod) is better than on Enceladus (6 MC on Psychrophiles). 20:43 That is a cheap card, so it might not be worth with Polyphemos (costs 5+6 instead of 3+6) You might not be able to play it, because you don't have any city/city card/plant production + you don't need cities in solo game. The 5 MC that you have to pay immediately is actually quite bad, because it is almost half of the price, so it is high risk, low reward (cheap card has low impact if you play it successfully). 21:53 You should always send your ship to Pluto at the beginning of the gen, unless you are thinking about sending it somewhere else. (If you drew a good production card with Pluto, you would miss on 1 gen of its production, or you also could have gotten multiplier card like Media group (+3 MC for event card) which could combo with cards you have played before sending ship to Pluto (for example Air rade at time 19:48)) 22:23 I found some interesting things to consider with Open city. 1.) The requirement does not matter that much in solo game, because you can set up unprotected 6 point city spot with greeneries since no one is going to steal it. So it would be 7 points for 5 MC and 11 steel (because Sky docks give 1 discount). You can even use the 3 plant units to help get last 2 greeneries. (for oxygen since you play for 63 TR not all teraforming) 2.) You have Sky docks (extra ship) so you will be able to send ship to Ceres quite often (if you get the electricity production though) so Open city can be a good steel dump. 3.) I would only buy Open city if you are sure about getting enough TR, because the 5 MC for buying the card is not great especially in gen 2. Since you picked Polyphemos I would rather focus on winning than getting points. But in this situation it is a godly card for getting points for cheap. 26:40 You already need +3 electricity production to use Sky docks' ship. With Iron works you need +7 electricity. In hand you only have +3 at that moment, so I'm not sure about getting buying Iron works here. I think Sky docks is quite good there, because you can get +3 cards (good with Polyphemos) and +5 steel (good with Advanced alloys) every gen if you can pull it of. (you need 3 electricity production + second earth tag). 29:53 Playing Advanced alloys at the end of this gen is a mistake. 1.) You don't need it at this moment. You don't have any playable card with building tag (you have two: Fusion power needs second electricity tag and Iron works need +4 electricity production) It is impossible to play anything with steel this gen and it is very likely that you will not play anything on the next gen. 2.) You draw 8 cards every gen, therefore it is possible that you can get combo with Advanced alloys (Mars university, Olympus conference). You can also get discount you have Sky docks, you might draw Earth catapult. 3.) You might need the 9 money on next generation and you are not sure to play the steel. You can always play the advanced alloys in next gen. 30:05 Enceladus gives you only 6 MC worth, which does not seem that great. Pluto gives you 3 cards (15 MC if you have one bad card to throw away, 10 MC if you don't have bad card to throw away). Ceres gives you 18 MC, from which 6 MC is just the station bonus. I think the best thing to do is to trade Pluto this gen and then trade Ceres if you get steel dump, otherwise trade Pluto again. Because you don't have bonus on Enceladus it might not just be worth to trade on it at all, because every time you trade on it, you don't get any station bonus. (5MC for Pluto and 6MC for Ceres) 34:44 Not using Advanced alloys -7 MC. 36:18 Selling a card when you don't need the money is not ideal, you can always do it later. You have Pluto, so there is a possibility that you will discard this card instead of selling it. Or you can draw more useless card. 38:09 Having prepared cards to draw in second phase of gen is a great idea. I started using it as well. 39:12 You pay 18 MC for Asteroid mining consortium and it only gives you +3 MC production. This will pay for itself in 6 generations. But it is also important to consider, that money in later gens have lower value and you will get titan instead of MC which is less flexible. So this card is negative value even if you manage play it in that gen. You should count your money to figure if you will even do it, because there is so many things that you want to play as soon as possible so losing 18 money will slow you down a lot. Don't forget that you also have Pluto. 41:47 Flying to Pluto at the end of you generation, you can't play the cards that you draw. You could also have flown to Ceres instead, because that is 15 MC discount on Space elevator, then you could afford Asteroid mining consortium in that gen (not sure if it is a good idea to play it at all though, but you already have bought that card). 49:40 Not using Advanced alloys -7 MC. 54:48 Not increasing oxygen + TR after playing Iron works. 56:40 Not using Advanced alloys -2 MC. 1:06:04 Asteroid mining consortium pays 16 not 15 MC (it does not pay in 12th generation and titanium is worth 4 not 3 because of Advanced alloys). 1:06:33 Not taking TR for ocean. 1:07:56 14 starting TR + 5 oxygen + 5 oceans + 5 heat steps (can be seen at 1:02:05) + 1 Venus - 7 solar phases = 23 TR, you only have 22 so you only forgot once. (I will pay more attention to TR raises from this point.) 1:14:20 Not using Advanced alloys -1/2 MC (I would probably pay 2 steel as 5 MC) 1:14:42 Not using Advanced alloys -2 MC. 1:15:49 Flying to Pluto at the end of the generation. 1:16:32 You have 2 jovians for Impactor swarm: Asteroid mining consortium and research coordination. 1:20:45 Not using Advanced alloys -6 MC. 1:26:53 Not using Advanced alloys -7 MC. 1:31:42 Not using discount from Research outpost -1 MC. 1:35:53 Not using discount from Research outpost -1 MC. 1:40:29 Not using Advanced alloys and discount from Research outpost -1 titan and -1 MC. (I would have paid 6 titan as 21 money, so the discount from Research outpost is not needed) If you don't forget the 1 TR for the ocean then you need 5 TR, which is 80 MC. If we only count the MC lost by Advanced alloys and Research outpost + 4 MC lost by not taking oxygen in gen 7 from Iron works, then you must get 80 MC - 7 MC (you had at the end) - 4 MC (for ocean TR production) - 4 MC (for oxygen you got in gen 11 instead of gen 7) - 34 MC (for Advanced alloys + Research outpost) = You still miss 31 money in the end. I think you can get that 31 money almost just by not forgetting Advanced alloys, Research outpost, TR from ocean and oxygen from Iron works, because that would accelerate you. Or just choosing Aridor instead of Polyphemos will easily give you more than 80 MC.

One of the best solo-games I have played this. I heard a new expansion is coming out Feb 2024 with more factions :) Osprey or BoardGameGeek has the bots as prinatble sheets that end up with each faction front-back as barbarians-empire (roughly half an A4). I use them with a plain plastic pocket.
Indeed! Really love this game, one of the games I thought about latley to get to the table to get me back into board gaming again, the expansion will be fun also.
the official solo mode is just garbage imho. It’s a totally different game which has actually nothing of the multiplayer game. I can’t believe there is anyone who likes it compared to a multiplayer game. Even a 2 player game is actually quite different (and i think worse) compared to a 3 players game (the sweet spot) or a 4 players game (good but a tad too long), due to the peculiar setup of base projects and the fact that the break is only 9 steps so a player can activate it in a single turn with sponsor 5 + 4 Xs while in 3 and 4 that is possible only with a multiplier on sponsors etc. etc.. Never played with arno. i’m curious to see if it’s at least a bit better than the official solo mode…
I agree that the solo mode isnt the best... but I d say the ARNO is really good and imitates a multiplayer game well for solo!

You can play the scout card without scouting. Fyi. It's the only action in the game that you do NOT have to do

Watched this before trying my first solo game and wow you're so right about the association actions being limited! Thanks for the video it helped a lot. That game was the most fun I've had with a solo board game.

On my first and second playthrough I died pretty soon because I got into the loop of no food bad fights low health and so on. Just wanted to ask if your first days are going so smooth is because you did remember the game and what places to avoid and that you have to stack food or is it just a lucky start? Any tips for a beginner to get a bit more into the game before dying? I don't have your starting character which character from the base game would you recommend for an first time solo playthrough? Thanks I'm gonna watch your journey now. :)
Hey! I havent played since I made the video so cant honestly remember the characters... but I guess I did have a lucky start then cause I didnt play before I recorded this from what I can remember. I think theres some game mechanics though that I might have picked up on from reading a lot about the game before it came out and so on, was very excited for the game and still own it and the expansions but never got around to playing them... hopefully can do sometime soon :) Best of luck in your plays!

@@Ride-with-Honor- cool! Yeah I have like 20 games in shrink in line to be filmed, but I will have bit of new style on the channel and mostly do unboxings, previews and livestreams. It was the long hours of editing playthroughs that drained the fun out of it last year for me.

Does anyone else struggle with Ark Nova solo game play? I start at 20 Appeal but still end up with a negative score - which gets discouraging after a while. There just are not enough turns. My fix is to add 12 extra turns and 3 extra breaks by adding 3 cubes to the solo card. This results in playing rounds 3, 4, and 5 twice. With these extra turns I am able to get to a healthy positive score. The goal will be to reduce the extra turns as my scores improve.
Keep on playing :D And always good to adjust solo games to have the most fun right!

Thank you for the video! With the upgraded wooden pieces, maybe you can use the filler piece to hold cardboard bits and put wood bits in the upper bins. Does this organizer fit the expansion Game bits?
I did manage to get the expansion parts in the box but without the base game boards since Ill just play using the expansion ones now anyway!
At 13:50 he took a VP for crossing the 1 VP on the battle track, but this is done at the end of the campaign when it closes. If he is no longer across that threshold you don't get the point. ?? This is clear on page 13 of the rules when the 2 VP is added only when he closes it. I've also watched others explain this and understood it this way when I read the directions. Comments?
