I also was a "good" kid. I didn't swear until my late 30's. I had so much stress about teaching and owning a private school I started what I called Cuss Therapy. I would do interval training on the treadmill. While sprinting I'd shout expletives. It felt SO good!

Hey Bre, I visited your full channel. You are doing great on KZread. But I saw that the engagement on your channel is very low. Also, I found a variety of issues with your channel! One of those issues is SEO optimization. Your channel is not getting the desired views because it is not correct.

My 1st, 3rd, and 8th year of teaching were super stressful. The ones in between were pretty good...and the big difference was my class sizes were smaller those years... no special needs or IEPs- other than speech, no major behaviors; and these years happen to be all right before curriculum adoption years. Once a currculum is a few years old you find your rhythm with it or stop using it or adapt it....cause they stop caring about staying on top of us following the curriculum and actually let us use our autonomy in the classroom and step outside the box. We also got a new vice principal my second year or around then I believe. And then another new vp my 5th year I think. New vice principals overseeing are the best cause they are still full of life, believe in you, and aren't beat down yet by the higher ups and stress. My 8th year, all hell broke loose. But I had already known ahead it would be my last year cause we had had our first child and the plan was for me to be a sahm ❤ perfect timing! I got out right before covid etc.

Yes! I stopped teaching after 8 years and started homeschooling. Wow, what a difference it made to my quality of life! Too much stress... and yes "pouring" into teaching took from everything else. It's too much-- more than teaching....testing, data, iep meetings, paper work, MEETINGS, autonomy taken, behaviors, special needs education flooding into regular ed, parent conferences, differentiation, differentiation, and on and on. Now I get to teach my kids and tutor other homeschoolers making more per hour! I started a homeschool group 3 years strong! It has been 6 years now since I left. My growth as a person and teacher has sky rocketed. I can explore, learn, and teach to my students with enjoyment!

It's good to know that even 5th graders aren't expected to write all 5 paragraphs in one day. I have my 2nd grader writing 3 to 5 sentences a day toward a single paragraph. And I was thinking by 5th grade on assessments or state writing tests, they might have to practice all year writing more in one sitting, but I guess not? 😅 So when they do have a standardized or quarterly writing assessments, do they just require a quick write that only requires a paragraph or so to answer the prompt...or do they in fact have to he able to wip out a whole 5 paragraph essay in one test by the end of the year? And what about third graders end of year writing test expectations? Thanks!

I put in my resignation letter/intent to not renew my contract for next year! This is my second career, the first was the military and I love teaching! But I hate working so much outside of my contract hours, my family always getting what’s left of me, and the constant overstimulation. To the point where I can’t focus on my mental health/wellbeing. So I’ll be subbing, and working on my own business! ❤

I actually laughed at a parent and told her that she should just take her child out of my class because I wasn't going to take her abuse all year long. She moved him out of my class, and the student was so mad! He came to my room and apologized for his mother's behavior. I only taught for 5 years. I really liked the students, but the pay, the hours and the crazy parents were just too much. I went back to my old job corporate job where I make a lot more money and have more freedom.
