    That's JoAnn's standard woven interfacing, and you can get it precut in packages, by the yard, and I'm sure by the bolt as well. I try to only get it when it's on special. It's also available with WAWAK, for a good price, and probably bulk amounts. 👍Don't know if you can get it shipped there.....🤞 I AM sewing while listening to you 😁 and congratulations on your new subscriber mark!!

    Sorry to bombard you Diana!, but if the paper pattern is too small in the waist and hips just measure the difference between the other sizes and that will give you the grade difference and you can then add that to your pattern - if that makes sense! A curved ruler will let you grade between say 22 to whatever!! It will work! Trust the process!, 😊😊😊

    Diana, don’t attach a modesty panel to the lining - it will just move about and annoy you! When you’ve done your first toile bodice decide how much higher to make the v neck and then trace off the front bodice pattern and raise the v - because it’s lined, you won’t even have to worry about redrafting the facing - you can just cut the main and lining bodice patterns and it will work perfectly! Btw, the yellow spot will look great in the design!! Love your videos! 😊

    Hi Diana, check out the Eva dress from Tessuti - perfect for linen! I’ve made 3 - the first 2 as easy wear dresses (I slashed out a lot of the skirt width) but the 3rd I made up as pattern in a great cotton batik and it’s amazing! BUT I did do an FBA with dart so as to make the bodice quite fitted. Really great wearable dress!

    Interfacing tip (I have made backpacks) interfacing is a discretional item. A great substitute for interfacing for denim is denim. Fusible interfacing is a relatively new thing. I have used foam for comfort areas, fusible for finicky areas where shifting is a problem, doubled interfacing on occadion, and self fabric or even layers with machine pad stitching

    After seeing your last video, I went out and picked up the same Vogue pattern for my sons wedding. Tip add a scant 1/4-1/2 inch to the bodice neckline right over the bust . For cleavage coverage. Justin case. Seam allowance plus weight of skirt will probably pull it down a little lower.

    Know this is convoluted but if you are visiting a friend in the US you could have the Pellon SF 101 delivered to them and pick it up when you are there. Walmart sells it by the yard and by the bolt online. The prices seem reasonable. Hope that helps even though it is not ideal.

    I buy a SIM card for my phone as soon as I enter a new country. It’s as high as $30 for a month but a safety issue, for sure. Nice dress, by the way. I love Cashmerette. Your bodice is a little big . Increase the dart, maybe take 1/2 inch off of the length. Remember different fabrics fit differently with the same pattern. That linen will have no give. So, perhaps, it will fit? It’s always a of an adventure.

    Hello Diana! Wow! You're almost to 1,000 subscribers!! How exciting! 🥳🍦🍧🍨 I'm sharing this to X, formerly known as Twitter! The ride to Germany looks nice! My grandfather was in Germany in WW1 and he brought back a Black Forrest cuckoo clock for my grandmother! I love the new dress pattern! I'm still concerned the linen fabric may be too heavy to be twirly at the bottom of the dress. Are you sure you don't want to try making the dress with a lighter fabric? Have a great weekend and see you soon!

    Yes, with this new info, i tend to agree with Copperhorse. When I see the pink fabric i tend to think of a very tailored suit, ala jackie kennedy, but it's obviously what you're comfortable with doing.

    The Simplicity dress is a better design and fit and looks lovely on you--you look very confident wearing it. The design and fit though, are just as important as the fabric choice. For the best possible outcome make sure your chosen linen is a recommended type for the pattern. Good luck with your sewing and congratulations on the upcoming marriage of your son.

  • @TheWanderingSewist
    @TheWanderingSewist17 күн бұрын

    Yes. I agree. So the Simplicity pattern is meant for my structured fabrics like cotton and linen, I just chose a more drapey fabric because I wanted a more romantic/boho look. But! I am not convinced I will like it in linen!

    Would it be possible to use the skirt from the Upton dress with the bodice of the Simplicity dress? Otherwise, the simplicity dress really looks like it should be in a floatier fabric.I think the fabric lends itself more to the Upton, particularly in the skirt..

  • @bethrule9085
    @bethrule908518 күн бұрын

    I like the Simplicity dress better on you (neckline, sleeves, fit of bodice, skirt) and feel that you gave the answer in your presentation (happier comments). Super positive to not put in a zipper. Easier and more comfortable to wear with the pullover design. More importantly, no risk of a wardrobe malfunction with a zipper that breaks! Is your pink linen fabric as light as your pink, flowery fabric? Linen can be so comfortable. Be careful when cutting out the pattern to be certain to not have the motifs at the side seams in the skirt so that you don't have to match the motif patterns. (Congratulations to Casey!)

  • @aleciacope3503

    Hi Diane. Why don't you wear the pink Simplicity dress that you already made? You could add pockets to it. The linen isn't going to drape like the pink fabric. Save it for something structured. The Upton doesn't fit as well as the Simplicity dress IMHO.

  • @copperhorse4515

  • @jeaninebilleaud5658
    @jeaninebilleaud565817 күн бұрын

    My concern is the flutter sleeve.. it is my experience that the linen will not be as floaty as the fabric perhaps that you used for the flutter sleeve. I love both dresses on you. You could make a mock dress or rather a mock top using a similar weight linen that you can buy locally?make it in the flutter sleeve and see if that works?

    Both dresses are beautiful but you sounded happier when you talked about the Simplicity dress. You’ve already taken care of the fit adjustments and don’t have closures to mess with. Personally I wouldn’t put stuff in my pockets on a day like a wedding but like you said, you can add them if you think you’ll need them.
