what a fantastic little dude, i think a young male may have recently taken residence in my loft . i see bats quite often but it looks larger than the usual i see but not as big as that chap, luckily he / she has chosen a part that we dont have easy access to so they wont be disturbed at all.

Great work! See was about 3 months old (incl. the time in the nest), you can tell by the color of the feet. I study (wild and free) kingfishers in my garden, with a selfmade system I can wheigh them very accurately. Just for information if you ever get another kingfisher to rescue; average weight is about 40 grams, but changes a lot during the day. In winter they get some extra fish before the night and can get up to 54 grams. In the wintermorning they were about 40 grams. Once a female kinfisher was smeared with some oil and in very bad condition, the lowest I measured was 33,2 grams. In summer in the morning they are about 37 grams (no need for a reserve because there is plenty food). Maybe it gives some insight and can help.

I found a kingfisher it beek is crossed and may be hit by something, now I stay far away from where I get alive fish I had to give him fish that we cook I give it raw but it's not eating I had to force him to eat I am not sure if it's not eating becz of it has wounds or becz of it's feeling lonely I don't know what to do
@ijsvogels_nl7 ай бұрын
@@kbani8502 I don't think it will survive with crossed beaks eventually. You can try to give raw fish, just pure fish, not out of oil or salted. I think it will not eat because of the crossed beak (and pain), it will not be lonely because they live solitary. Hope he will survive but I don't think if the beak stays that way...

I Inadvertently opened the hedgehog house to see if we had a visitor yes I did it granted so I left it alone immediately but now it’s gone will it come back or was it me that frightened it away
@haroldinho99303 жыл бұрын
You scared it away so it thought you were a predator, to check for hedgehogs in the future, place a piece of paper at the door of the hedgehogs house, if there’s a hedgehog living there, it will move it It might come back, I’m not sure, was this recently?

2:22 Ooooh lil' mousey made me jump!! It always interests me that a hedgehog detects our dogs from some distance and is curled up, tucked in and locked down way before the dogs have managed to sniff him down. They stay that way until the dogs have gone and rightly so but most of the time I see them with wild foxes on these cameras, they could not care less just carry on mooching around them. Is it because they're more familiar with the regular if not full time residential fox or just they can smell a dog from half a mile the same way dogs can smell vets? The other thing that catches me out each time is how fast hogs go. You know they run quick and it's not all that often you do see it but when you do they're breakneck lightning quick. See one in full 100mph dash and you'll hear music from Back to the Future.

Please help!! I found a wounded kingfisher 4 days ago, im keeping it at my place and he had similar symproms like this one eith the head tilt, after 2 days his eye opened and he got better, took him to the nearest loval vet, he told me his wing is fine but i see that something is wrong with his right wing! I am “force feeding” him for now and giving him water, took him outside today twice to see how he does, he tries to escape but just smashes his wings on the ground...if you could give me any advice...

Thanks for this. I have found 2 very young (maybe a week old) mice under my shed which I just removed. Feeding them goats milk but not sure what to do now as left them in a box with holes near where the nest was and mother hasn't returned. How long would you leave until releasing and would you release near where the nest was or away? Thank you in advance
