    Can you publish the rough dimensions of the front base for the motor? I have an Outlaw 11.5 on order and want to have a base ready for the front when it finally gets here. I really only need to know what size board of 1/2 inch HPDE to order from Amazon, is 12”x12” sufficient? I will make my own template with cardboard to cut it. (My mount will be just a basic one for a 55lb Newport with Autoboat.) Thanks, nice video.

    Not sure you knew this but they don't recommend going lower than 50% depth of discharge on deep cycle lead acid batteries or it begins to lose capacity. I know you didn't go that low on this trip.

    I bought a outlaw a few months back I installed the Xi3 Motor-guide in the front as well. I didn’t screw down the front(I copied 334tactical) but I didn’t like just leave the front lip without securing it to the kayak. I also didn’t want to screw more holes as well where I didn’t have access from the hull. So I used heavy duty marine sealant and clamped it down for a good solid 12 hours and also use black silicone heavy duty all purpose for the final touch to make it look pretty lol! It’s super solid! The way I did it almost looks like the bracket was made with the kayak!

    @corywilson3724 Жыл бұрын

    Great video, I love that you didn’t edit out the mistakes to make it seem like it was a quick and flawless install. One suggestion I’d make for that deck plate is to make it 3-4” longer than the boat. That way you can cut in a carry handle into the front. It would also give you enough material to make a “sandwich “ plate and not have to use well nuts or drill extra holes in the boat. Just add some spacer blocks where the gap is for the carry handle and in front of the handle so that you can use another piece of UHMW to sandwich the existing handle. That would secure the front of the plate without drilling or using clamps. Best of luck this season buddy.

    That is slick. You definitely need to post a video in action once you can get on the water. The advantage for the bow mounted trolling motor like this is being able to stand and use the remote to steer. Most of the time, you can set the direction and fish while moving slowly. I have a stern mounted trolling motor on my Outlaw 11.5 with toe steering pedals installed. So, I have to stay seated to steer while moving. I love it though. I am hands-free except the occasional adjustment to the speed on my PWM controller. I too have the breaker where I can reach it for the trolling motor. You will need to install front navigational lights. I just use a Vizipole for my 360 in the back. I have it in one of the rod holders on my crate. I did the same thing and watched videos on KZread and basically picked pieces of what I watched t put together my own install. I think I could do it again and have a much cleaner look...not to mention it would be much easier to do in a shorter time frame. I have a 100ah Lithium battery and that is a bit overkill. I can fish for 10hrs and still have just over 50% left...that is fishing with winds in the 12-15mph range. I can cover a ton of water on one charge. I have never come close to running out of juice. I am curious to hear how it performs in wind and chop...does the front get swamped too much and does the back end spin around too much...that will be interesting to compare to a stern mounted motor on this kayak.

    I'm definitely excited to test it.the weather up here is getting colder again so it may still be a couple months yet before I can test.im glad to hear how long your battery lasts .I'm typically on the water for 10 or 12 hours.
