Part Time Prospector

Part Time Prospector

How you going?

I'm Bruce , the "Part Time Prospector".
I prospector for gold in Western Australia using a metal detector and having been doing so since 2020.
I'm not one of those guys you see on TV that tell you that they have to find gold otherwise the wife and kids will starve to death, and set totally unrealistic season goals.
I don't have to prospect to make money. I have a full-time job. I work as a software developer.
I do the prospecting is fun. Its gets me out into the bush, it lets me see places that I will never otherwise see, but basically I enjoy it.

Sure there have been times I gone out and haven't found a sigle piece of gold, that was more due to me learning new ground, new techniques and getting fully understanding the in and out of my detector.

Maybe one-day. I wil upgrade, but that day hasn't arrived yet.

So lets get detecting..

See you on on the next video..

Happy nugget hunting..

Bruce

I'm BACK & an apology!

I love to learn the history of how things were done. Even if its a different part of the world. Many problems they had, miners find those same problems today. Thanks for your time, sir.

People like me are watching not for the Spiel berg effects or production. We are watching to learn from a good teacher. Which you are. Thank you for your time and Effort. I live in Queensland. SO my prospecting trips to WA are once a year. I prospect for the love of travel and being in the bush. BUT I still want to find at least one piece of gold. You make that possible. Thank you. GEOChemical charts review and location would be great

My two cents won't buy a cup of coffee, but I'll give them to you anyway: Your credential on this channel should derive from your actual field experience, what you've tasted / touched / done, etc. PLEASE, tell me what you are experienced with and spin me a tale; I'll GLADLY listen. I'm a rockhound myself, already motivated by the common tie with you of holding a spellbinding piece of the marvelous earth in my hands. Because we do these things and have our hearts and minds moved by them, we go out for more! You're SO much more respectable when you just stick to the processes as you practically understand them. Your 10, 20, 30, 40 years of personal experience are MORE than sufficient to get and keep my attention, "part-timer"! Which brings up the truly dreadful PINK ELEPHANT you needlessly-cum-pointlessly brought into this space... When you toss about the moronic "fairy-wand" of Deep Time, my eyes glaze over, my ears swell shut and my interest-motivated attention evaporates in an instant. Except for reading the most reliable written human historical records, no one alive has ANY real personal life experience on a time-scale of thousands of years, or even hundreds! And most have NO actual lab experience to pin some scientific reckoning to. Shallow minds like those of Darwin and his ilk can't help but take the VERY BEST of opportunities and throw nothing but heaps of theoretical dirt over them until they're buried out of sight under stinking sh*tpiles of fantasy! You probably enjoy looking for and finding gold; I would have enjoyed listening along for a bit of vicarious "action"...but, then you brushed me out the door only 40 seconds in! What do "2 point WHATEVER BILLION YEARS" have to do with what interests either one of us during our own "day in the sun"?

Yes mate I’ve just started I’m a few weeks off 50 years young but life is life and other priorities have held back my dreams. But it’s going to happen. 4 weeks to the WA GOLD fields. Norseman, Coolgardie , Kalgoorlie and several other places of keen interest. I’ve been practicing when I can . I only have the Gold Monster with several coils. Couple pointers. Two of us going on the trip. Just planning to head up and east once some good rain rolls through for a decent wash out. I except to probably do very poorly as it’s my actual first prospecting trip. But I have 100% no doubt the Gold is THERE 100% few friends have been very lucky with 8 nuggets 2 off them one was 120 grams and 89 grams. They went for 2 weeks and returned with a total of 287.6 grams of nuggets and pickers. But I’m not sure on the actual true gold content but it’s believed to testing at 18 karat to just over 20 karat Gold. Definitely a dam fun time the lads definitely had. But I ain’t going to find nothing just taking about it. ACTION IS REQUIRED. ALL THE BEST. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍🤑💰💴💵💷

I hope you hand anything of true value or engraved rings to the police. Im not saying what you do is wrong, but every time I see a metal detectorist on a beach, I feel a small amount of disdain for them, like a hock shop making gain from someone elses loss, or a vulture. The shire should bring out a law like waste disposal site's where it is illegal to scab, and have a lost and found depo. I may cop backlash for this comment, but I cant help the way my gut feels. Sorry.

I love it when I find random peace’s of some ones life down the river or beach then I can think about the story behind the item I get that some people don’t like it but I think it helps clean the water ways as well as giving the items found a chance at a new life.

Any decent prospector would leave other prospectors pending lease alone. This is their livelihood so most prospectors would treat private pending leases as live!

I was swimming in the Yuba River with a mask, I dove to the bottom of a pool and in the very bottom in a natural trough wedged in the cracks were several nice sized pieces but never in my life anything "giant" or bigger than a few grams.

That doesn't make sense. If large nuggets are formed at depth then the deeper you dig in a mine the larger pieces of gold should be. Just the opposite is generally true. The deeper you in most mines the finer and less the quantity of gold tends to get.

the reason i like you is your down to earth presentations, truth, I've been prospecting and finding gold now for 58 years. Then mining it myself, or leasing or selling it to major companies- great job. what's your name? how do I send you some money.

That line as you call it follows the bardoc tectonic zone It’s a heavily mineralized region that follows fault lines and subsequent basaltic lava flow A lot of the gold in the area has sheared from orogenic gold deposits and either lies around that area in structure like greenstone or in eroded sediments of those structures
