Sail Dallas

Sail Dallas

Sailing School located in Dallas Texas. We hail out of Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club and race J24s, J29s, VX Evos, and VX Ones. We specialize in basic sailing takes people from never being on a boat, to operating a boat comfortably by themselves. We strongly believe in developing fundamental sailing skills. To ensure unsurpassed instruction, Nationally recognized Certifications are available. We have a low Student/Instructor ratio. We only put two students on each boat (along with an instructor). This improves the learning curve and doesn’t waste your time by crowding the boat.

    Looks like a rule 10 foul by the other (presumably j70).

    I (j29)purposefully ducked down to avoid a leebow. The foul was rule 11 after the tack from the j70

    A lee broch is a bitch, you can bend a pole or lose a mast. The spinnaker over powered main when it was trimmed so far back it cause the lee broch.

    Very nice, every day is a school day, seldom seen reverse mode of a yacht. Seen my crew while rounding first he wanted to show fastest hoist he threw the kite in the air then missed to grab the halyard the spinnaker became a trawl.

    I carried a smaller triangle cut spinaker that i flew like a kite. Would let it out and let her climb. 40 knots is a bit much for a sail that large. Planing with a 6 foot rooster tail is kind of exhilarating, then theres the death roll tho and the broach.

    Hey guys, really enjoy watching your race videos. Thanks for the regular uploads. And cool to see the J29 in action. Great boat! We video each of our races using a 360 camera and then reframe for KZread. The ability to reframe really adds to the watchability of the videos, and it allows you to see what the other boats are doing. For the last couple years, we've been racing phrf on an Olson 911se. But recently, we switched to LBYC's C37s for one design racing. Check out the videos by searching Participant Race Team or possibly just clicking on my name. Keep putting out videos and I'll keep watching.

    Windward boat was still footed way off just before the collision. Leeward boat had every right to come up but not force the collision or make contact. Middle boat got the middle finger treatment from both sides. Middle boat should protest windward and leeward boats.

    Had you hiked out and got your boat really flat. Been able to point a couple of degrees higher than them, allowed you to either hold them out or at least sit there until you want to tack?

  • @SailingTeamTallyHo
    @SailingTeamTallyHo19 күн бұрын

    @@ollysmallwood1468 I'm not sure if SailingDallas would have been able to point any higher even if they were flatter. The wind deflecting off of the other boat's main would change the wind direction just slightly enough that boats of the same type (J24) with roughly equal helm skills would be against SailingDallas. On our boat we refer to this as being in the 'backwind zone". kzread.infozROSW41jcb8?si=MpRcpC0DQ5Jth0fO

    We were a little early to the line so we ducked down to kill time. The boat below us took us up and we started to take the next boat in line up but they would not head up therefore there was a collision between us and the windward boat.
