Welcome to Its The Chad! I'm a guy who loves old Chevy Trucks! I spent years building my first C10 with my dad when I was a teen. I created this channel to encourage fathers and sons, grandpas and grand kids and guys on really tight budgets to keep keep turning wrenches on these old trucks. I hope to provide you with my cheap tips and tricks that I have learned on my journey as being a father, DIY home remodeler, Driving Instructor, Chevy pickup tinkerer and Market Place flipper. Sit back and enjoy the ride with this C10 Truck Nerd!

You really know your stuff on these trucks and I love following your channel. But I have a question, I'm looking at a south Carolina truck originally built in Baltimore i live in NC which requires an inspector come out and inspect an out-of-state vintage vehicle which brings me to the question is there a VIN number on the 67 C10 chassis I can match to the VIN number on the cab to make sure that corresponds with the VIN number on the title. Thank you for your knowledge on these trucks and sharing it with the rest of the world And thank you in advance for answering my question
I really appreciate the support! There should be 2 partial VINs on the frame. One on the top driver side near the steering box and one on top of the frame under the driver side cab. You will probably need a mirror to see that one. They also may be under paint and grime.
@@ItsTheChad71 thank you very much. I will look today and as long as it's in order, purchasing the truck Thank you again
Awesome! You can’t go wrong with a 67!
Hi Chad I have a 68 short step and need help finding a left lower control arm c10 oem style. Thanks Jim .😅
Shoot me an email to itsthechad71@gmail or message me on Facebook or Instagram.
I wired my shop, and then my third vet hospital (after I read a couple of simple books) and I'm an idiot! So far, nothing's burned down.... You can do it, Chad!
Haha! We’ll see what happens!
Chad I need some parts for my 68 short stepside. Can you help me please?
Shoot me an email to itsthechad71@gmail or message me on Facebook or Instagram.
Don't forget to put in some 220 outlets for welders and maybe a mini split HVAC
Yes sir! I’m not sure where all my final equipment will go yet, so I’m going to leave the walls open for a bit and get a feel for the building.
This was one of the most helpful and entertaining videos on KZread. Thank you!
I appreciate it! We like to have a little fun!
5 seconds in you look like a douchebag. Dont recommend…
Do you have a core radiator support for a 68 C10 pickup
I don’t have any supports at this time.
In 1976 me and my dad built a 60 by 100 with 14 ft walls metal building, a concrete slab, all the restrooms and Plumbing ,a 440 amp disconnect 3 phase and single phase, the whole package for 5,700. In 1985 I built another building for the business, 20 by 80 the cement at that time cost me $13 a yard delivered. In 1978 my dad and mom built a 3800 square foot home complete for 18,000 with a huge two-car garage.
Oh how times have changed!
My dad use to say you can buy any thing you want for a good price if you are patient and have the money on hand and to day with E-bay and Market place its even better because some people will ship it to your house . I just learned this next thing this week, I had sprinklers installed and every sprinkler guy has a Ditch Witch who could come to you house and install a long narrow hole and they are good at it , It mite be and idea for you to get the conduit in the ground , 3 inch is huge how big are the feeder wires ????
You said it! At least I knew what I was going to need for a while and that allowed me to save a bunch! You’re also right on the 3”. I’d have enough space to run 20 wires out there. Lol
How about a respray that trucks had it
I hear ya! That Earl Scheib paint job didn’t last!!
I’m driving on 20 year old tires
I can’t say I don’t have some 2003s on my 71 right now!!
So both my front tires are worn like under Lincoln’s head an my back an hood covering his head. Could this be the cause of the squeaking sound coming from what sounds like the right front passenger wheel ??? Right front tire has also had a slow leak forever 🙄
Nice, what about replace wheels? Upgrades
I haven’t replaced any of the wheels yet. I have re-grooved them with my angle grinder when they got smooth. Worked pretty good.
The CST was the Silverado of 1967. It was the top of the line trim level from 1967 through 1970. In 1971, a new Cheyenne trim level was introduced & it became the new top of the line trim level until later in the 1971 model year when the new Cheyenne Super trim level was introduced & became the new top of the line trim level. The square body models which were the next generation fullsize truck models were the first to receive the Silverado trim level in 1975.
Thx
You bet! Thanks for watching!
1972 trucks had a visible screw in the door for the vent window.
You got it!
That was my first Borde Game To play When I was a kid
We still play it with the girls!
@@ItsTheChad71are Thay little?
@@Spiderblaze-pw7bz they are.
@@ItsTheChad71 I remember I played that when I was little
Because white is right
It also bleached the driveway!
What grinder wheel did you use?
I use twisted wire wheels of different thicknesses on my grinder. They work great with the different contours.
@@ItsTheChad71 got ya I was talking about which one did you use on the rally wheels I’m restoring some I bought a 3 in steel wheel I hope it will work
@@GG_GrandmaCowgirl I use the 4" twisted wire or the 3" cupped wire. They fit in the front lip really well.
It’s very easy, if you see a guy standing right in front of you with a pair of bolt cutters and wearing a ski mask….stop him!!! Silly me, I only saw the cheesy but hilarious thumbnail. Good video btw!
My wife said it’s the best I’ve ever looked! Thanks for watching!
I wired up two batteries like this and the initial charge worked, but they won’t seem to recharge. Even bought a new power wheels charging cord. Still won’t recharge the batteries.
Have you tried charging them individually?
@@ItsTheChad71 Yup. Now I have it plugged into a Noco 1 trickle charger. Says the battery is filled 75% but won't work when I plug the powerwheel in.
@@turn313 the fuse isn’t blown is it?
These cars are designed like crap.
There are some oddities for sure!
Do you still have the air cleaner ?, if so , how much ?
I’ve only got the lid left.
Thanks The Chad
Thank you!
My oil change for my 19 equinox has never been under 90 dollars 😅
I just had my oil changed and tires rotated a couple months ago with a coupon at Firestone for $58. It wasn’t full synthetic though.
Got a 72 from my dad...thank you for these videos.
Absolutely! I love seeing trucks stay in the family!
I hate thieves so much it's unreal
I got a peg perego battery. I jest took it off the old one. But it has an in-line fuse on the negative post. Should I cut it off and use the one you Recommend. Or leave it and not do the one you say??
If it has a fuse already, I would just switch it over to the positive wire.
Also don't follow in the footsteps of the westerly RI man who decided that his head was a great place to shoot a mortar firework off of and ended up no longer with us
Wow! Mortars are nothing to play around with.
America fell. Freedoms not free.
Let's go brandon!
Haha!
I’ve had to do this a few times on both my old Dodge Grand Caravan, and my Town & Country. It’s a pain in the backside to say the least, so if you have problems with getting under the vehicle etc. just get a good roadside assistance service, and let them know how to do it as a lot of them don’t know how to do it. Great video 👍
It is not easy, especially on the side of the road! Having a good roadside service plan is a great idea. Hopefully you can limp the van off the side of the road and wait.
10 tips? You only need one: Do not leave your trailer anywhere without a PROPER trailer lock on the receiver!
Agree
Honest Criminals ? Where ?
Right? I stole that line from my Pops.
Thanks for sharing 🎉
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Done this on most my RAM and Chevy's over the years
My old Charger worked the same way.
Like all your videos.. have a 1972 GMC C2500 pickup that I'm giving some TLC. Noticed you have a newer bench seat in one of your videos. I need to replace/update mine. Any videos for that task?
Awesome! You can’t go wrong with a 72! I haven’t made one yet on recovering a seat, but have it on the list for my 71 GMC.
Great video. Thanks for posting
You bet! Thanks for watching!
I have a 67 short bed small back window 4x4. I’ve owned it 20 yrs, this has taught me alot about it. But, mine has air. And it’s not underdash, it’s thru the dash and has factory AC controls. You did not mention if these yrs came w AC? Thank you !
You bet and thanks for the support! AC in 67 was a very rare option. Only about 3% came with it, so you’ve got a good one being a swb 4x4!
@@ItsTheChad71 thank you very much for responding. I knew it was rare- but not that rare! I’m fixin to restore it for my wife’s 40th in 3 yrs. It’ was blue like this one as I can see it on the underside of things as there are still most of its body parts in place after someone else did what they did before I bought it. But, the bed doesn’t look like it came w the body as it shows no blue anywhere rather a color that matches one misplaced/replaced front fender w a filled side marker in it, and the bed has tail lamps that were filled in as well. It also has a 350 in it and auto trans. How would I find out the original motor, trans and bed style ? I’m considering putting a step side on it but I’d like to maintain as much originality to it. I appreciate any info thank you very much. Great channel 👍🏼
I'm the Ford Alcoa truck restore guy, in San Diego, ..was a huge market, .. slow now but steady....
It’s hit or miss here in the Midwest right now. I’m selling a decent amount of GM Truck Rally wheels.
I'll just use a trailer I just stole to load your trailer on it and now I have two trailers. Work smart, not hard. 😉
Dang it!
Thieves suck. We have a local tool rental company here that went around stealing heavy equipment, trailers etc. then rented it out. The guy was busted with texts from his partner telling him where equipment was that was easy to steal. They found lots of stolen equipment at his tool rental business.
That’s crazy a company would do that! I’m glad they got busted, but I’m sure they are out doing it again!
Buy a trailer dolly and then use it to park your trailer backward in your garage or if in the driveway, the hitch toward the house.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Loosing the bolts on the wheels when you store it!
I like it! Won’t make it far.
I have a 35 ft. Motorhome. It is parked in the sun, no cover or garage, all the time here in upstate SC. I have tried several different waxes and compounds and have found nothing beats Meguires ultimate compound 67 and Flagship wax. Both are for gelcoat and fiberglass. After compounding and waxing, it will look like new
I bet that takes a minute to polish and wax a 35 footer!
Pro tip
I’ll take the spiders over snakes!
i live in california and they dont wanna bite you and they run
Ours don’t seem to be phased by humans. The y just stand their ground.
DUDE, why do black widows love under fenders!? Its everytime for me. Especially if the car sat for a long time.
I hear you! They are in my fenders, under my wheels next to the garage and under every big rock around here.
How about the license plates ?
