Why hello there! This channel provides Let's Plays, but I do have special videos sprinkled in, such as vlogs, "top 5 such-and-such" and whatever else pops into my head. The LP's are a constant thing, usually one a day, and everything else is pretty much random :P Enjoy! Comments? Questions? Criticism? Feel free to PM me and I will get back to you ASAP!

The trick to open the boxes in the future first, then go to before you open it after you opened it, is so subtle. But it does so much to establish Chrono Trigger's time travel as better than most time travel fiction. The multiverse timeline approach that other time travel media use, including Chrono Cross, is the easy way out; Because you don't have to deal with the "butterfly effect" style consequences. But here, they made an effort to have a linear timeline that stays consistent. that is way harder to write than a multiverse and very fascinating. You can see it in other parts of the game such as the Sun Stone sidequest, when it shows that Marle's existence is tied to Leene's survival, and how the Black Omen can be re-entered from the past.
I love how Chrono Trigger deals with time travel! I'm generally not a huge fan of time travel stories as writers tend to use it to bring back dead characters, or as a cheat to get out of a situation, or is otherwise not very engaging. Chrono Trigger does time travel very well, and it feels like messing with the past has an actual impact on the future. Beating the final boss from different timelines, and during different times in the story/game itself, changes how the final cutscenes play out, which is really cool! I always loved that!
How did you make it?
I filmed in front of a green screen, then used an alpha channel and changed some lighting settings in the editing software!
The secret codes in old game menus are nostalgic!
They really are! It's always fun when new games do that as a nod to the past. Inputting different codes that are built into the game itself is such a neat way to add replayability to games! Or make them easier hahaha xD
Your missiles need to be more accurate lol
Yeah missiles in this game is not very good, though I'm not particularly great at finding the best times to use them either xD
12:26 Parents with kids these days. 🤣 And how the thief sounds when shopping. Comedy gold!
That is so true! Kids can be exactly like that during a shopping trip! This game has such amazing humor!
Well it was a butternut squash 😂😂
That's funny! xD
its been 10 years since this was posted nobody is gonna notice this comment
Hello! Thank you for your comment! :)
AI's lapping 34-36s on Bluff, 47-53s on Caves, 32-34s on Park, 41-47s on Temple, 32-35s in Tubes; how's that "super hard"? you're not even powersliding
The AI is technically harder/better, but I've played this game a whole lot, so my skill overtakes even the secret difficulty.
I really needed this i did not even know you had to do nothing like what
I'm glad this helped! When I first played this game, I got stuck on this exact part and couldn't figure it out. It wasn't until years later when I got the game on my Game Boy Advance SP did I eventually figure it out. It's such a strange puzzle honestly!
Mennn
4:47 You timed that perfectly. The choir screams while Snorlax makes the background shake.
Haha it's awesome how things can line up so perfectly like that sometime! :)
One of the best pieces of video game music I have ever heard. Such a beautiful track
It really is! I love this song so much!
Bro u killed the polar pass stage 🙌🏽🎮🔥👍🏽
Thank you! I've had a lot of play time on this game and Polar Pass is one of my favorite tracks!
🔥🎮👍🏽
🔥🔥🔥
5:54 He shot himself with his own missile. Pretty funny.
Lol Crash you goof.
Yeah the AI can be silly somtimes xD
i'm sorry, you what?
To be honest, I have no idea what I said in this, so hopefully it wasn't too bad xD
The fact that a video from 9 years ago with less than 100 views inspired one schafrillas's jingle for yoshi valley in his mario kart rankings is insane
That's honestly so cool! I quite enjoy his videos and have watched him for quite a few years now! Also, I can't believe this video of mine is 9 years old!
@@Poz159great too see you still active around here, hope you're doin great overall
ya know i'm really proud about how far ya have gotten doing a no armor run Poz.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it! It's been tough but really fun!
Sigma is such a sigma, also whipping off the cape and whipping out the lightsaber was kinda sexy LOL
Me and my brother Marc, couple other friends of mine,. We would play this, master weapons, magic, level up until we were tired of it. Get to the end and just let this ending play as long as possible.
Oh! I did a quick search about the name Aegagropilon, according to someone more knowledgable about the game than me, the japanese name means "great xorn" and xorn is a D&D earth monster. Possibly true?
D&D inspired and spearheaded RPG's, so a reference to it wouldn't be surprising. Secret of Mana being a Japanese RPG, made in Japan obviously, there definitely seems to be connections there. That is really interesting, thank you so much for sharing! :)
Going from the cannon ball to dragon for fast travel is so much better lol. Although I do like the idea of flying from place to place in a cannon.
Traveling by a cannon definitely has its charm, but flying on a dragon is definitely safer, hopefully
Grats on beating the boss.
Thank you! He is definitely a toughie and very difficult to hit!
oh wow ya made it this far! Keep it up Poz!
Thanks, will do!
Awesome. A no armour run. I love it. I gather this is the version on Switch?
Thank you! A no armour run of this game is really fun! This is being played on emulator, though I do own the snes cartridge of this game & the switch version of this game. At the time of recording I didn't own a capture card, but I do own one now so future playthroughs of games will be through console hardware and acapture card.
@@Poz159 Thanks for that. Is it an emulation of the SNES original? It looks like it's a (slight) re-translation, along with a different font type.
While it is an emulation of the original game, I did use a patch I found at romhacking(.)net to add more game text that was taken out in vanilla SoM during translation in the 90's. Unfortunately, I don't remember what patch I used, though it was probably the Secret of Mana (EN) translation patch@@thelastsidewalk
@@Poz159 Ah, thank you for that. I've not seen that mod before, I'd like to try it someday. Though I don't know how I'd go with all the changed names. Way too used to the original names. I think doing recordings with emulator vs console hardware is an interesting discussion. Both have got their ups and downs. Looks like you really enjoy SoM. Hope to watch some more of your gameplay sometime soon.
@@thelastsidewalk I mostly used emulators only becuase I couldn't afford a capture card back then, but now that I have one I will definitely use it as much as I can. SoM is one of my absolute favorite games of all time! I played it with my sister back in the 90's, and it's a game that is near and dear to my heart. I love SoM's soundtrack so much; the game holds so much nostalgia for me, like when I would play it at night, in a basement, on an old CRT tv. Those memories I will treasure for my entire life. I appreciate chatting with you! SoM videos will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a different game on Saturdays, but I plan on having daily videos very soon.
❤
:)
I love this game so much i remember when i was smaller me and my dad would play this game all the time
That is so awesome! I love hearing stories like this! It's so heartwarming hearing about family bonding video games, especially with a game as special as Secret of Mana! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
To be honest I made up a alternative ending were you had a choice you could use the fortress to end all things
That would be interesting! I wonder what would happen with mana and the world if such a thing happened?
12:27 - 12:59 Protopet going apeshizz on the thief never gets old. 12:38 “Whoops, UHH.” 😂 12:50 Seeing the scream, on the subtitles, oh my god. 😂
The comedy in this game is gold!
so starts the grind
...yrots ym ot netsil
Hahaha I like that one!
WOOO ya can get do some grinding prepare for all the dumb shit later
oh yes! Grinding is going to be super required from here on out! Hopefully it won't take too long haha
so do you plan on using barrels from neko?
I may use them, depending on the location and if I have them available. They are definitely useful in a pinch!
You have to wear 1. Red Mail/Vest when you fight the Son of Sun 2. Black Mail/Vest when you fight Mother Brain / Retinite 3. White Mail/Vest when you fight Nu Spekkio 4. Blue Mail/Vest when you fight Queen Zeal
This title inspired schaffrillas jingle for this track in mario kart 64
Haha that's cool!
you got this poz
Thank you! I appreciate the support! :)
Youre pretty good at this game, boy
Thank you! I played this game quite a lot as a kid, though I could never actually beat the game. The later levels are brutal!
Hey I used to watch your channel for a little while back around the kingdom hearts and psychonaut days, dont know much about this game but cool to see youre still making videos! Hope all is well with you!
Thank you! I appreciate it so much! I did end up going on hiatus for a few years, but I'm slowly getting back to recording and hopefully streaming again soon. I appreciate your support! :D
@@Poz159 I'll keep an eye out and tune in when I can! I don't have a ton of time to watch stuff but if I see an interesting game or am around when you're streaming I'll try to drop by, always enjoyed your thoughts on games and the chill vibes of your vids
Actually the PURE lands is the area at the END of the game the area before going to the Mana Fortress itself where if you have No armor everything will 1 shot the party 700+ damage AT lv 60. The Area on this video is called the Upper lands by the in game World map itself.
Oops! You are correct! I don't know how I mixed up the names haha, I changed it now.
At least your playing the easier SNES version on the PS4 remake the enemies here are actually lethal WITH the best armors equipped but on the PS4 remake the Pure lands enemies will still do 700+ damage without the Grand Palace armors and in the remake you can't actually spam attack magic making a no armors run in the remake even more impossible.
About that a NO armors run is IMPOSSIBLE the 2nd to last area of the game AT lv 60 WITHOUT the buyable Grand Palace armors bought and equipped will hit you for OVER 700+ damage in 1 hit KILLING any of the 3 in 1 HIT without those armors bought and equipped. So a NO armors run is impossible because of that and Lucent Barrier to make you temporarily immune to physical damage won't last THAT long even as a LV 7 spell WITHOUT the Grand Palace armors equipped.
At this point, I have recorded the entire game with no armor, so while it is possible, it is indeed extremely difficult and probably impossible without battle magic. You are correct that enemies in the end game, especially bosses, do an absurd amount of damage, pretty much our full health. With that said, various magics like defender, slow down, balloon, etc. certainly help a lot. using items and support magic simply for the I-frames helps a lot as well. Lucent Barrier doesn't last very long, but it can still be helpful in small situations. Realistically, battle magic is the main reason why "no armor" is even possible during the last 2 or 3 sections of the game.
well not exactly true leveling up defender and the some of the other defensive magic can mitigate a lot.
Defender still sucks I still took 700+ damage from the Pure Lands/Mana Fortress NORMAL enemies with lv 7 to lv 8 Defender used and the Grand Palace armors NOT equipped after still BUYING them. Bosses are immune to slow down/balloon etc so even if you drained their MP To zero their physical hits are still going to do 700+ damage once Lucent Barrier isn't in effect without the Grand Palace armors equipped even at lv 60. Without access to SAVE stats I do NOT recommend a NO armors run because of even the NORMAL Pure Lands enemies doing 700+ damage WITH LV 7 defender spells used its just that Lucent Barrier will last even SHORTER with no armors equipped.
❤❤❤❤ sooooo interesting how this started off.😊
This really feels like its your rpg game hehe 😊 I still have to finish it one day
good on you for not chain magic spamming the boss.
Thanks! It would've defeated the purpose of a challenge run if I abused a strat that made bosses unable to even hit me xD
@@Poz159 In your opinion is no armor or no magic minus puzzles harder?
@@manatheif I would say no armor is harder due to the fact that at many points in the game, you will be killed in 1 hit, 2 if you're lucky. Even with Gnome's defender magic, no armor gets absolutely brutal later on, which requires significant level grinding to balance out. With no magic, you can still do good damage with physical attacks, and you have healing items you can use if you need to. Some bosses are nearly impossible to hit with physical attacks, but do-able if you know the precise hitboxes.

It's been a very long long time Poz159. I'm Brian6034, the guys who suggested you to play the New SMW2 hack. I was wondering if you accept any let's play requests at this moment.
Hello! I hope you are doing well! I am open to let's play requests! I can't guarantee that I'll be able to do them, or do a full playthrough of them, but I'll definitely take it into consideration!
@@Poz159 Well, two years ago, SMW central has released a brand new YI hack called SMWC Island, which is a collaborative effort from various SMW central users. It is the same length as SMW2+2, the last Yoshi hack you played. 5 worlds total. I was wondering if you can do a let's play on it. And if you're in any trouble, just remember save states are always useful.
😍 *promo sm*
I really like whatever CRT shader that is! Also shoutouts to Donkey Kong 94 on the GB
How do you charge the weapons without hitting first? If i charge with B he always hits first...
If you hold down the attack button while unpausing the game, after getting hit, or having magic used on you, then it'll charge without needing to attack first. Essentially, you can buffer the charge during any animation by holding down the attack button while an animation is happening. I hope that helps! :)
