    Does the AWOL work projected onto the wall? I remember you did a video with a screen paint.

  • @RobertBriggs1977
    @RobertBriggs19775 күн бұрын

    A screen will always be better for several reasons. they are intended to reflect light whereas a bare wall (without special coating) is not. an alr screen for UST will direct light from the steep angle of the projector out towards the audience and not reflect it in all directions which then reflects off walls/ceiling and adds more ambient light into the room. unless your wall is perfectly smooth, it will have texture that can distort your pixels geometry and will reduce the sharpness of your image UST projectors accentuate any deviation of flatness and you will see a distortion in your image. Many people who don’t use screens think that something is wrong with their projectors lens, but it is due to the wall not being perfectly flat. That all being said, there are still many people who are happy just projecting on the wall, especially due to the cost savings, but performance will not be the same.

    Honeslty, the ambient light shots sold me on it. Plenty bright, mine will go on a basement wall with a window a good distance away. This should work well right on the wall.

    Wait, you can run 1440p at 8ms?! I wish they'd advertised that. I've been thinking I don't want 1080p on such a big screen but 16ms input lag might be too much on some games. 8ms at 1440p is a great compromise though. One question I have, can you force the window to stretch like a TV? Say you want to watch a widescreen movie and stretch the view to fill the black bars?

  • @RobertBriggs1977
    @RobertBriggs1977Ай бұрын

    Actually, UST projectors do a great job with black levels. Honestly, I think they are just as good or, in some cases, better than long throw projectors. Formovie Theatre has outstanding black level performance. The Epson LS800 does a great job at it, too. Nomatic UST projector is really good, and AWOL VISION is another one that I really like. Any more questions? Don't hesitate to ask?

    What’s your preferred projector ? Epson or the formovie

  • @RobertBriggs1977
    @RobertBriggs1977Ай бұрын

    I like them both. It depends on what you're using it for? The Epson is better for brightness and lower latency for gaming. The Formovie Theatre is a little better for sharpness and Black levels. Overall, it comes down to whether you'll be using it for gaming and more or less ambient lighting. The Epson LS800 is at 4100 Lumens, and the Formovie Theatre is at 2800 Lumens. I personally like the Epson LS800 better because it does a great job with the overall picture quality and the lower latency for gaming. In the end, they are both great UST projectors! Any more questions? Don't hesitate to ask. Hope this helps you out?

    @@RobertBriggs1977thanks so much for the reply and breakdown! As for the gaming on Epson, I hear slot about the picture really darkening while using the gaming hdmi so it can have lower latency. Is this true? And is there a way to still use arc sound bar while gaming on hdmi 3 or does it really default to the speakers on Epson ? Any work around for that

  • @RobertBriggs1977
    @RobertBriggs1977Ай бұрын

    @SnickatNight I use HDMI port 1 or 2, not the gaming HDMI port. The latency is the same for all ports. My PS5 and NVIDIA SHEILD TV run through my receiver. You can hook up a sound bar through ARC. The picture is amazing when you're gaming nice and bright and colors pop.

  • @RobertBriggs1977
    @RobertBriggs1977Ай бұрын

    @SnickatNight I personally like both of them. The Spectra Phoenix is built a little better while the VIVIDSTORM performs a little bit better for Ambient Lighting. I think it's a 10% difference for Ambient Light Rejection. You can't go wrong with both of them!

  • @RobertBriggs1977

    Basically, it comes down to a little Chihuahua named Marty love to leave little pees here and there over their grandma's house so then Vivian would go over to that spot and leave a little pee. So basically, they will be wearing it for a tiny bit, then go out to pee. It's only when they go over to the grandparents' house.
