I trained members of my church in the prevention of child abuse for ten yrs and delved deeply into this subject from online research. But, your insight has added so much more understanding. I’ve studied sociopathy also and these presentations tie the two together. It’s an exploitation of the good person who lives by Godly principles, and they know how to flatter you about living out the gospel, at the same time manipulating us to feel guilty that we are failing Christ if we don’t give them what they want. Thank you so much. This is from my sons account.

describing my ex-husband 100%. It was exhausting living with him, he wears your down, yet very smart with manipulative gaslighting, leaving you in FOG of confusion with his slick deceit. It is checklist of sociopathy / malignant narcissism. I think it is demonic.

What people have failed to recognise when they refer to the Bible God and Jesus is that the Bible is a book filled with lies. THERE IS NOT ONE WORD that is written by GOD or Jesus. In fact when one goes back to the DEAD SEA SCROLLS and other ancient documents, the Bible is a collection of views by individual men to control people to suit their own personal views having by altering, removing parts etc created this evil part of human life called religion

What about Philippines 3.13 forgetting those things which ARE Behind and reaching forth to those things which are before? Millions of Christians have been through a lot. Corrie Ten Boom. Suffered in a Nazi concentration camp for helping jews escape Europe in ww2 Her entire family died! Corrie saw the power of forgiveness for your enemies and loving them After ww2 Corrie went back to led Nazis to Jesus Christ She taught them the Bible and how to live the Christian life Corrie did not go around hi lighting those who hurt her and took the lives of her family Corrie spoke of Jesus Christ and His saving love I've listened to this lady before She really hi lights her x and all he did against her She has also openly spoken down on Rev Graham and other famous ministers. I have not yet seen the Lord uplifted through her story It basically is about They done me wrong. Perhaps she might read Corrie Ten Boom books and re think about where she is?

I have to speak to this. I have attended The Gothards Siminiars. I personally really appreciated the teachings. I personally have "practiced" these teachings and they have proven to serve me very very well over these last 35+ years. Since I'm speaking only for myself I will very much appreciate no derogatory, judgemental personal comments. Everyone has their own personal opinion about this teaching. However, I'm personally very very Thankful and Grateful I was able to be taught these principles.

I bought a carriage horse from an amish man at a horse auction in Ohio...and let me tell you, the minute I met him , I had conflicting feelings about his character. I was like, he's supposed to be so holy, unworldly, but why is this married man flirting with me ,and eyeing me up and down like he wants to bang me? That's what I was telling myself! It was weird feeling.

You have to wonder how many female paedophiles there actually are out there? We used to think that there were many more male adulterers than female, but now know that woman cheat just as much as men, but just hide it better. Boys are much less likely to A, see it as abuse and B tell others about it. Added to that in the past women weren't prosecuted for it. The Internet and in particular, social media, has revealed many unflattering realities

Chele, I read a segment of a new intro to the book “Little Girls in Pretty Boxes”, which is about abuse in gymnastics and ice skating, specifically. One of the sentences hit hard because it described my experience with school bullies and spiritual abuse. “Only in an environment in which abuse of all kinds is normalized could sexual abuse on this scale happen.” The writer of that new intro was referring to the Larry Nassar case, where over 200 women said that they had been sexually abused by Nassar. I had a visceral reaction to that sentence because I was bullied for 12 years in public school and not much was done about it (early on, I was told to “ignore them” and given the impression that I would be punished by the school if I fought back), and I was also subject to five years of spiritual abuse in a church in Tallahassee, Florida. That sentence *exactly* described my reality. I have several chronic physical/mental conditions and I think my experiences in school and church fed into them.

I'm a retired mental health therapist who counseled hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse over the years. I can honestly count on just one hand the times when the offender was NOT a conservative Christian man who was admired by his wife/congregation/friends/etc. Your story breaks my heart, and I commend your courage in telling it. I hope you find peace.

Suicides... many. I have two close friends from the icoc that killed themselves. I know of others, as well. One friend killed himself two months after getting married. This spoke volumes. What Chele went through being forced to marry someone else’s choice happened so so so often. It happened to me, only I chose suicide over going through with the marriage. Obviously, I didn’t go through with killing myself. I’m still here to tell the story. Two of my bridesmaids were forced to marry their husbands. Leaders. One of them divorced her abusive husband and left the church. My bridesmaid that stayed married lost their son to suicide years later. I can read a lot into why my friend killed himself two months after his wedding. I knew he wasn’t in love with this woman. I knew he was pressured to be the scapegoat to deal with her, as the church didn’t want to. ‘Just marry her off, she won’t be our problem anymore’. Well, that killed my friend. He’s now dead. He waited to be in love. He resisted his feelings for a girl not in the church... dating outside the church was not allowed. His reward for obedience was being forced to take the short stick. This marriage ‘trafficking’ ( love this term, Chele!!!) was a proclamation by Kip McKean in 1992. He wrote an article in the ‘Upside Down’ magazine founded by him. In the article he stated single disciples fell away at a rate far greater than married disciples. So, get them married off as soon as possible!!! Leaders were held accountable for doing so! And, there ya’ go, forced marriages. Encouraged marriages, coupling off. All of it.

Wow, that's all so messed up and sad. Churches don't care that the effects of abuse last a lifetime and that so many suicides are linked directly to abuse. I hope one day these families can see some form of justice. It's all so heartbreaking.

I left the Boston church some 20 years ago. I recently reached out to the local "family group" in New Hampshire because I wished to fellowship with local Christians. At a family group meeting, I dared to read a passage in it's entirety, in order to provide the larger context to the "target" scripture. I received a phone call a few days later from the "leader" and was told I was no longer welcome at the meetings.
