ImprovPianoTips

Early into my teaching career, I discovered that traditional piano curriculum does not teach adults how to flow, improvise, and play freely. My KZread channel is a taster of my powerful paid online lessons.

I am a jazz player but i got something from you. Though the chords are pretty familiar to me. I like the bluesy ones. I usually listen to everyone with jazz styles and pick up here snd there. Thanks man!

I like you video for some thing and dis like it for other. I wish at the beginning you play exactly what you are showing with out extra cords and when you half way showing you stop and explain something 3 times. It not bad just wish when you were showing one part you didn't stop and talk just play it throw and than explain at the end.it really throw me off and made me frustrated. Thank you for your video.

@@playpianobyear thank you for responding! I want to be able to improvise freely and be able to play songs by ear without needing to learn them step by step (I have perfect pitch so my main struggle is technical skill I believe). My friend advised me to just learn different pieces I like and eventually I will get better but I feel like I am making no progress. Can you point me towards a better path?

@@davitharutyunyan8330 Yes! Here's something I tell my private students: the gatekeeper to feeling and flow is muscle memory. You NEED to know which movements to practice and practice those religiously. If you can afford $47USD, I would highly recommend this course to you which will show you the exercises you NEED to focus on: www.improvpianotips.com/the-more-affordable-newcomers-coupon-condensed-taster-course If you can afford private lessons with me weekly, I charge $70USD per half hour online video session. I normally have students transform their playing in 6 weeks. You can apply to work with me if you'd like here: forms.gle/4iyfReWK11k7Dznn7

Dude, I happened across this and IMMEDIATELY tried it and it is inspiring! I have a good knowledge of chords and progressions but I get stuck in the rut of just playing straight chords and a bass or 1-5 in the left hand. This pattern opens up a lot of spontaneous ideas! Excellent work! BTW I'm self taught 65 yrs old😊

I'm so happy to read your comment bro <3 Try doing different amounts of momentum push hits too! Not just 3. Do 4, 5 and so on. It's a powerful tool! Did you get the pdf?

I have learnt the chords , basics those, but my left hand will always habitually be in sync with the right hand, I tried by practicing more, but the left hand is still clumpsy and the sound isnt natural..
