Thanks for making it so easy, I've put off installing an elec fuel pump for so long, now I can attack it with confidence.
Carful with the screw extractor i cracked my last block using one
I have a issue. I wired up a dual fan setup with 3 terminal toggle switch with light on it. I have wired everything as wire diagram shows. When ignition is off, I can turn switch on and it turns on fans but when I turn the car on , the fans turn off. Unless the toggle switch ground needs to be grounded straight to the battery instead of interior ground, im lost.
My question is: Can I make the brake lights double as turn signal/hazard lights with modifications to this setup? I tried to look through the comments first so I apologize if this has already been answered.
Absolutely. Check out my wiring playlist. I have a few videos on turn signals, brake lights, and running lights. I also have one on making 1 bulb perform two functions. Thanks for watching!
Hoping this comment reaches you. Love your videos, they make things clear and easy to understand. I do have a question on this one. I haven’t finished watching it yet but I’m at the part where your wiring the headlights. I notice that you wire the horn switch to the ground block and the relay, but for the headlights you wire to the positive block and the relay. I’m sure there is a simple explanation for this and I’m over complicating it haha. But would you be able to explain why that is? Thanks in advance.
I see now after commenting that your have reversed the white and black leads for each really so that would explain why you used the two different blocks from the switch. However, is there a reason for having added the switch to the ground side of one circuit, and the power side of the other circuit? Or was it just personal preference/showing that it can be done both ways?
@@AhonuiOutdoors- horns in cars are almost almost wired with the switch on the ground side because the horn button in the center of your steering wheel grounds to the steering column itself. I assume this is done by car makers so that they can run one less wire up through the steering column. I have a separate horn video here too if that’s what you are after kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6lk2LOEe6e8mNI.htmlsi=q47zHkHKs-BAqW1Z
Much appreciated. I assumed there was a very simple explanation. Thanks for the quick response.
Thank you I will need to try on my 75 beetle vw and I got a square relay with 3 proud the original flasher relay which led relay I will need. And for tail light I assume I don’t need relay.
How do u wire a push start button to a marine ignition switch?
Marine engines are still engines like cars have, just different shapes and sizes. So you should be able to use this video below to help you out. I would think accessing the starter wires will be your biggest hurdle. Wrenching on boats can be a challenge! Check this out kzread.info/dash/bejne/fn5o2cqYp8vInLA.htmlsi=joYu1QUIQyWUiRw4
So my 62 scout never used relays why are the needed great video by the way
Scouts are super awesome. As for relays - it allows you to not run the full electrical load through the switch. This is a good idea for a variety of reasons, and I actually made a video about this - check it out - kzread.info/dash/bejne/g3efyKh8fMTFeso.htmlsi=KvuDluCEQ8Pvn3FB
After commenting I watched the video explaining relays makes sense thanks
Looks easy, now try doing this with the engine still in the vehicle
I’ve done this about 2 billion times with the engine installed. I made this video with the engine out because it is FAR easier to explain and get it on camera. I’m just trying to help people who run into this issue.
Excellent video! A few comments to fill in a bit more. Fuses are generally sized to the wire rather than the load. The wire is presumably sized to the load but the point is fuses don't protect devices they keep the wire from burning up. Older vehicles have a fusible link or a thin piece of wire in-line that will burn up and the thin wire might not be easy to spot. Typically it is one gauge smaller and a few inches long. Obviously starters without a solenoid on them will not spin down faster without a diode since they use centrifugal force.
Bro literally saved my project with this one 🔥🔥🔥
I replaced my wheel hub assembly, pads, rotor, and caliper, greased it and all, brakes and let's off beautifully, but it keeps smoking and that leaves my axle, the brake line is clean, the ABS line is fine, does the axle rubbing cause smoking? I drove 10 mins and it would be very hot as well to touch
HI jeramy, i like your electricalwirirng circuits, my prioblem is that i amworking on my classic volvo p1800, 1971 model. i bought a set of four led rear covette c5 tailamps, but i am not sure how to wire them, i need your help to provide me with a circuit diagrame. thank you
I'm trying to wire my boat trailer winch with is standard with 2 relays and has heaps of black ground wires ?? IT run a electric motor to wind up the cable
Good job
Excellent! Easy to follow. Thank you for that. I want to rewire my van but wasn't sure how it all goes together. Now I know.
these videos have been really helpful in understanding relays and lighting circuits! I want to wire up my high beam and low beam headlights with a single dpdt on/off/on switch and was wondering how you might recommend doing that? From what I have found searching it looks like I might need two relays?
Thank you
You're welcome
Así quiero tunear la mía igual tengo una ram 50 Mitsubishi.
It was a really great truck.
Got an aftermarket horn wired up and working off my steering wheel push now, thank you big man
What if you are using the factory steering wheel horn push as the switch?
I used the factory steering wheel, it was a simple case of splicing the "black from pin 85" into the wire on the column switches that corresponded to the copper touch under the steering wheel. There was already an earth going back to the chassis/battery as part of that loom.
Are the Relays really needed for LED Directionals? They are so low power will they really be needed?
It all depends which components you are using in the circuit. If you don’t like relays, I made a video about that too. Here you go kzread.info/dash/bejne/p4ydp9GDhteumZs.htmlsi=vzWTNySJN5PLUYUL
@@WiringRescue thanks for the reply i will be watching it real soon.I am currently waiting for directional stocks to arrive by mail .I have been testing all my Led components Amp draw statictics for fuse purposes and have come to a conclusion so far that all my replacement Leds are drawing less than 1.5 amps that includes an Led H4 headlight bulb low beam.which is on constantly I would inagine a tiny Led which is only on 50 % of the time is extremely small draw unless the flasher it’self pulls a high draw or unless you may like the sound of the clicking like in the old cars.i will test this prior to final installation using a laser temp indicator.
Very2 useful video...Thanks a lot..
thanks for the helping me understanding this, i didnt copy you exactly i used 1 flasher and spliced off that so it powers both the turn signal and hazards. the i used 1 6 pin double pole switch instead of 2 switches so one way i get running lights and i flip the switch the other way and i get flashing power to my hazzards. now i have black out features to :)
Sounds rad! Glad you got it working!
They don’t teach that in shop class.
Luckily KZread exists! Thanks for watching!
What size mega fuse
The fuse size depends on a whole bunch of things. I made a video all about how to choose the right size fuses. Check this out. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5yusJiOlNHTgKQ.htmlsi=3x_liW6Iaa6YM2By
It's a brand new GM starter (for carb'd 350) I'm reading 200-350 amps the starter could draw? Is that correct? So 350+ fuse?
Also I'm running a diode to ALT, but does the ALT have to be fused between the battery as well?
Thank you for making this video. I just followed your wiring and I'm able to wire my power windows and locks.
So how does one wire in the temperature gauge into this circuit? When I did mine the temp gauge never registered and the fan never came on (180.on, 170 off). When the bypass switch is turned on the gauge pegs (full unrestricted ground)
Where is the neutral safety switch I have a 96 Ford f150 xlt 5.8L
Thank YOU
The turn signal noise in any modern vehicle is fake.
Thanks for the video, I wanna run turn signal for my e scooter using 12V battery. Can I use the negative part of the battery as ground ? Thanks
Yes the negative battery terminal can be used as the ground location! Good luck with the scooter!
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wasted all that time..........................heat exhaust components with a mapp gas turbo torch or use an oxy - acetylene torch to heat the metal around the bolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
What gauge wire?
I actually made a video to answer that question. Here you go - kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5yusJiOlNHTgKQ.htmlsi=wR92OIjrJtTURPct
@@WiringRescue thanks!
Hopefully I can get a reply, but my question is can I bypass the neutral safety switch?
What a GREAT, easy to understand, educational video! I learned more from watching this than any other video I've seen in months. Thank you SO much!!!
I’m glad you found it helpful! You may also like some of my other wiring videos. Here is my personal favorite that took me forever to make. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i65tzdOxh87VeKw.htmlsi=Cxdwrh1KQxeEmrKD
@@WiringRescue I enjoyed this video so much, I will be thrilled to watch your other ones. I immediately liked and subscribed.
Yep, listen up, hit vehicle, then the left bracket button, then service and checks…..😮
Here we go again. No no and let me think…..no. Pushing the button straight down does not take you to the oil reset it takes you to off-road comfort auto dynamic and individual. 😢
Did this the way he showed with Carlin switches and turn signals turn on both sides take hazards off and work as normal
👍
Love all your videos. Wish you had schematics. I am doing a complete rewire on a 1979 easy go GT seven truck and have purchased a lot of the things you show but the main thing was a six place relay fuse block with 11 fuses
Thank you thank you thank you. Put on a new master cylinder and no brakes. I had the brake pedal in the lower hole and not the upper. You are the only KZreadr to address this.
Great informative video ✌🏼
Glad you think so! Good luck with your project!
thank you for this video i thought i was not wiring it right wtf
You’re very welcome! Glad you found it helpful!
You are an EXCELLENT TEACHER!!!!❤
Thank you! I’m glad you think so! Feel free to check out my other videos too if you like this one!
With engine off, the battery needs to unload any extra energy back to the alternator field. Not sure about this setup, but if you had checked the battery voltage you should have seen it drop, About 13.48 time stamp. The diode is about the battery not the solenoid. I am not a expert, but pretty sure i am correct. On my 64 Galaxie the solenoid is from battery on one side,, to starter on other side. I think you have this wired up wrong. Not sure but that is how my manual shows it.
I‘m finally feeling that I can understand the whole cable/amps/shananigans!😂❤ thank you!
Excellent! I’m glad you found it helpful. There are lots more wiring videos too if you find yourself bored!
BROO, my weak point is definitely wiring, but thats my fault for not pay attention to it. thank u for ur time sir
You’re welcome! I’m glad that you are finding it helpful!
Please don't take this wrong but it all sounds like verbal Diarrhea, I know you know what you are doing but you sound like you are trying to tell everything you know in 30 seconds or less by trying to give history of everything and you jump around in topic. i.e. the black wire coming from the alternator to the fuse box, is it a ground or is a hot wire, you made and show conflicting statements. Please stick to the point as if bullet points in proper rig up sequence, then if you want to add history or things to watch out for, then do so.
Based on your comment, I’d say this is probably not the best video / channel for you, and that’s okay. There are so many other content creators out there. Shop around and find the one that suits you best. Good luck.
This video is amazing. I've been redoing the wiring in my 1958 Austin Healey Sprite and while I've been successful (for the most part) this helped me identify a few items that I've done wrong.. That diode between the alternator and fuse panel is one. Thank you for this.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
