Rubber Duck Off Road Garage
Rubber Duck Off Road Garage
Welcome to Rubber Duck Off Road Garage. My name is Grant.
I like to work on Jeeps and other thing in the garage. I will try to show you thing that I am doing to my Jeeps and thing I have learned about them. The best thing about having an off road vehicle is the adventure it takes you on.

Man! How has this cover been holding up after a year of trying to work it down that windshield with the light bar mount on? Just curious cause you looked like you were struggling with it to bring it down. Would like an update on it. Looking to get one for my son's Jeep.
I started just going over the light bar, and it still works. The cove is holding up very well. I will do an update sort this weekend if I get time.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage sweet! Thanks for the reply
What did you do to get the black plastic piece off of the Big battery terminal? It's a pain in the ass.
To be honest, I don't remember. I think it popped off on its own.
Just a quick question thermostat issue is when the vehicle its running in the freeway and the (transmission overheat light) came on??
I got a CEL, and the code was for a bad thermostat.
Those are Metalcloak Overline fenders in the front.
Are you still liking it. Wondering if it will work with the OEM door surrounds.
Yes.
Do you replace the transmission fluid?
According to Jeep, the transmission is maintenance-free. I am going to drop and change the pan at 150k. I might take it to Jeep for that.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage lifetime yeah right lol
Well done video. Thanks for showing the issues with the lower bolt access.
Do you replace the fuel filter ever oil change and roughly how much do you pay per oil change. Thanks
I do oil every 5k and fuel filter every 10k. Oil changes are around $100.
Thanks 👍🏽
Thanks so much for the video. The Dealer here in South FL wanted $730 dollars to replace it. My engine warning light came on and gave the error. So did the code disappear? Also did you use mopart parts or third party?
I got oem parts from moparwholesaleparts.com. When I was done, I cleared the code with a scan tool, and it was good to go.
Should have heard the dura shit yesterday morning sounded like a idi truck lol
how do you like them as compared to 4.5 backspace
Rock Krawler recommended 3.5 so that the tires wouldn't rub on the front control arms. They Sickout a little bit more than I would like, But I like how they look.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage thanks for the info.. If you had put wheel spacers on 4.5 backspace wouldnt you achieve the same as the 3.5?
@@Jeepula wheel spacers would work. I am not a fan of them. That is why I found wheels that would work.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage i been stuck on getting the rt117 3.5 -38 offset for a minute.. I want to put 37s or 38s with -13.5 on a stock rubicon 4xe
Nice !! Whats the offset on the wheels ?
3.5 backspacing or -38mm offset
Hey Grant .. I've got the same Gladiator as you ... same color too :) ... I've also installed the same Rock Slide Engineering steps on mine. I do have some issues too. Driver side seems to rattle ... I'm assuming I'll need to take apart to see what's loose. Also, sometimes the step seems wobbly ... on my passenger side, it will sometimes not deploy when door is opened. Shutting the door and reopening seems to fix that. I've had for about the same amount of time ... I think mine are Gen 3 too Joe
I have a 3.5" lift no cable issues but I do need to know what springs you used.
I used the ones that came with the lift from rock krawler.
@rubberduckoffroadgarage Thanks brotha.
I tapped into my high beam wire to power the relay for my lightbar so it just comes on with my highs.
just an O ring, no old school gasket or sealant?
Yes, just the o ring
Should we completely drain the fuel tank to do this? How often do we do this?
No, you don't need to drain the tank. I do this every 10k miles.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage so even if the tank is still full, we can already change the filters?
@@Vziera Yes
Evidence that you need to see a Urologist! Minute - 14.5 🤣
Actually, really good video! Very helpful!
Unless you're using repeters the range is essentially the same as using a CB.
any error code? look super clean great video btw
I have the Tazer JL mini, so I switched my light settings to led tail lights.
Hi. Is it only filtered water with bit of fuel coming out through the yellow screw hole, or all what was left in the fuel tank? I'm asking to ensure if I could replace these filters without draining the tank. Thanks for the video.
You do not have to drain the tank. It just drains the filter housing.
How you like them?
They have been very good. The ride is nice, and they are not too stiff.
Wish you showed more of what you were doing was not very helpful but thank you for trying to make one
Thanks. Time to do mine. I’ve been reading about the high pressure Bosch fuel pump failures (CP4) which sounds like a total nightmare. The takeaway is that very thorough priming after a filter change is essential, as air in the fuel damages the pump. Also, NEVER EVER run out of fuel.
Have the covers faded at all, thinking of buying for my gladdy
They haven't faded, but the driver side back has a hole in it from rubbing when I get in and out.
This is a million trillion times more helpful than quadratec’s video and instructions. Thank you
Any idea what size threading the yellow screw is? Mine is stripped out and trying to find a replacement without having to replace the whole housing.
Nope. I don't know where you could find that info. I would try asking on a forum.
Did you ever fabricate anything for the RSE steps so when you ope the tube doors the steps come down? The door delete kit from RSE just seems hoky to push a button Everytime you get in and out
I just turn my steps off when using the tube doors. I will see what I can fab up the next time I put them on the Gladiator. If it works, I will post a video.
I’m sold, I found a seller that owns a jt and letting these bad boys for 650 so I’m about to check it out. Thanks for this video your jt looks good tho I’m getting these doors for my 21 jl Willys
Sorry. Can’t find the part numbers that you mentioned. Thanks.
The oil is really hard to get from the dealer now. I have switched to AMSOIL. As for the filter, I will have to look.
@@rubberduckoffroadgaragehow's amsoil working for you every how often you do oil change now? I'm about to go that route as well.
@fernandomartin624 Good. I change my oil every 5k.
Thanks for the tutorial. Are you still happy with it. I was looking at this one for my gladiator but just ordered one from Venture. Just wish I had that diesel. Haha
You're welcome. This bumper is ok, but I have been looking at others. I wouldn't buy it again if I had to do it all over.
12:32 sounds like it backfired
Thanks Grant for taking the time and putting this together for the WK2 community! I had the P0128 code show up also and will be following your video to replace the thermostat. I too have had great luck with the diesel! Again thanks for taking the time to put a video together and sharing!
gran video, me das el numero de la llave?.. saludos dsd Perú
rough country mlc-6 is a must have.
Fun fact! That lower battery box is an excellent place to smuggle drugs.....allegedly.
Yep that sounds like a jeep problem 😂
21 Mojave front shocks being replaced under warranty, terrible creaking noise. Very disappointed
Thanks,I'm about to do this.
Must be a Very long bolt?
My 22 willys ecodiesel came stock with rubicon shocks.
Looking good like a man! Great project!😊
I love my ecoDiesel.
I've met this guy in person. He is flatulent as fuck!
Will 37s work with the Mopar 2 inch lift on a Rubicon?
Yes
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage Even with articulation off-road no rubbing ?
Not sure.
Is it touching your Trac bar? If so, that's not good. I would not run it that way if there is any rubbing on the trac bar. Just sayin..
I am running a 35in now. The 37 fits a little snug but doesn't rub on anything.
Anyone know of someone you can pay to install radios in a Jeep Wrangler in AZ?
I hope the EcoDiesel stays in the Jeep
The last I heard was it will still be an option in the Gladiator.
@@rubberduckoffroadgarage I really like mine. Good option.
It's a 79
Rivnuts?
