    Hi, I love your tutorials. What if you don't have heavy-body acrylic paints? Will you get the same effects? Thanks

    Following you over the years, this is what I’ve learned. Stop painting when you it’s not fun and take a break. When you think you might be done, set the painting in a place in your house where you can observe it over a few days in different lights. If following one of Cinnamon’s tutorials, after a point stop comparing it to her finished product. She is a professional who has been painting for a lifetime, you are an amateur having fun and learning. Looking at your painting over a few days will help you understand values, focal point and other concepts that now make sense. Don’t be afraid to change things from the tutorial. If your painting nauseates you and makes you want to quit … I’ve had a few like that, try to fix it first, you might be surprised and if that doesn’t work, paint it over in black. I’ve been following Cinnamon for 8 years now. One of the paintings I did 7 years ago and hung in my living room kept talking to me about what I would differently now. I painted the same landscape again and seeing the difference and progression I’ve made makes me happy. Even looking at a painting for years doesn’t mean it’s finished. Think I heard somewhere that the mono Lisa was years in the painting process.

    In watercolour I've been told, don't add grey, instead to grey a colour add its complement. Is this different watercolour to acrylic?

  • @TheArtSherpa
    @TheArtSherpa2 сағат бұрын

    I personally think they are similar in the way we actually grey a color. Like using purple to grey a yellow. But you may want a more tonalist painting and then you can add great but it does desaturate the color in the way the compliment wont

    I have finally found the courage to paint this for my dining room!! I've been painting for a year now and am at that I can't do anything right phase. Your story of courage through the fire has encouraged me to hang in there and challenge myself to new skills and new projects. I grew up with chickens as accent pieces in our home and I am loving these silly birds!! Thank you for sharing your gift and your story.

    my easel is the first thing I see when I walk in the door. Sometimes I have had an epiphany by walking in and just seeing it before I get to have a moment to use critical eyes.

    Modeling paste or heavy gel to achieve the stucco texture would be fun to use in this painting too. You could mix your colour in with it or paint over it. I like the credit card suggestion someone made. I have used this to create texture and you can do a lot with it. Depending on the thickness of the plastic, you can get all kinds of effects while varying your pressure while applying or scraping off. The palette knife gives you more control, but depends on your technique and what you're going for. There's so many options and its fun to explore. Fun painting!
