Welcome to Weight, Build, Dig! I’m Duane I have a wife and two daughters we live in Alabama.
This channel I will be building our home by myself without a contractor and developing our property.
I’ll be operating heavy equipment I love digging in the dirt. I do brush cutting with my skid steer.
Those are the things I love to do. One thing I’m going to work on is my weight. Which is how I came up with the name of my channel.

I just turned 700 trouble-free hours on my MX4700DT gear drive purchased new in 2012. Couldn't ask for more in a tractor of that size.
@@comlbbeau yeah it is a good tractor. I use this one mostly for bush hogging.
Auto Parts store has an engine degreaser and then just pressure wash after spraying it on and letting it set for 5 minutes
I'm looking at something like that.. it's a 2017 cat 303.5 with a thumb, also come with a 24inch tooth bucket.. has 3,100 hours on it and they want 35,000 for it what do you think?
With a cab? It really depends on the wear the machine is showing. There could be a machine with a 1000 hours and be wore out. So really you need to get on and operate it for a god 30 minutes and see how it does and look at if after you run it. Look for leaks or wierd sounds stuff like that. Make sure there is no slip in the bushings and pin.
@weightbuilddig166 yes it does have a fully enclosed cab.. I'll definitely look out for that stuff!
How much did the concrete cost?
Good job bro!
great job! I have a cat excavator 308 which has a kill switch inbuilt and it really is a savior. I have a question, at the positive terminal there are 2 wires connected and the smaller wire is a little lose and when its moved the excavator stops completely. what is that second smaller wire and how can i fix it? Thanks a bunch
Do you have a picture of it? It won’t tighten up?
Looks like the brother-in-law screwed the sister and the brother...
Only $2800 bc of the concrete base.
Might be a dumb question, but do you get the same MPG? I just got mine today. They are kind of heavy. Thanks
Yes I got the same gas mileage.
@@weightbuilddig166 thanks for response and help installing
Buddy can’t dig straight lmao only 3.5 ft swap and 50ft run …. What a bum
Sheet it on the ground, no need for plumb and line.
As a contractor who builds nothing but sheds and garages with a framing, concrete, and roofing background, this was hard to watch.
Make better video. Show how it's done, contractor who builds nothing but sheds and garages 😂😂😂😂
Does this build require building permit?
It did not. I’m sure that has to do with I don’t live in the city limits. It did require a permit when I built my house.
Did you sell the Big blue 2012 Ram 3500?
Yes I did.
Did tou leave room for the drywall to slide past the sides of the treads and risers? Because if not the dry wall guy or you are gonna be pissed.
Yes I did. I just didn’t have time to show it.
IRC max riser is 7.75”, and that’s steep enough. 8” for a main stair would fail inspection here. Also not rounding over the noses before you set the treads is a huge mistake 😵💫
8” is the max here. The treads i used were really the subfloor for the stairs. I put on nice oak bull nose treads when finishing the floors out.
I made the mistake of buying a front wheel drive lawnmower and it will not happen again. If you are buying because of slopes, then do yourself a favor and be sure you buy a rear wheel drive mower. They do not work like cars do. The rwd models have so much better traction. I do not know if there is more weight on the rear wheels or not but they go so much better. Lesson learned for me.
Thanks for your comment. I notice that with mine. The wheels are turning but there not really pulling you around, they help. Anyway I’ll keep that in mind.
Well now under Biden we have to pay $10,000 for a small shed.
Blame china
What did the pad cost you?
For concrete and the dirt I had brought in total was $900.
What does the diamond shape exclamation mark mean
For my machine it means something isn’t right. When it’s cold it on until the machine warms up. But if it comes on during normal operation then there is something wrong with the machine.
@weightbuilddig166 thanks for replying. I will have to put a scanner on it.
What’s your machine doing?
@weightbuilddig166 I found it. Left joystick needs linkage tightened and lubed. It started raining as I was backing off trailer. It was muddy and slick so I was creeping it back. As it tilted onto the ramps I looked forward to line it up if it were to slide and I saw the symbol go off a few seconds then realized when I go in reverse enough that it starts grabbing, the light stayed off. So when I get time to look into it I will let yall know what was up. Thank you and I will like and subscribe.
Very Nice!!
Thanks!
WHY DONT SHOW THE FOUNDATION BUILDED !?
I did in the video before this one. To see the whole thing from start to finish is like 7 videos.
🎉You still going in
Planning on getting one next spring, had my current one for 10 yrs. It’s old and has starting problems
aw no ... he's for WBDs invaaaaaaaaade!!!!
Is this anchored into the slab?
I did put anchor bolts in after I had the walls up.
That dirt!!!! Not a root, not a rock....like jelly....I'm overcome with jealousy, damn fine job...very neat!
Thanks! We do have some good dirt
What was the cost of the slab?
His anal virginity
What rotos and breaks did you end up getting
I don’t remember what they where. Just what ORielys had. They were a good match to what came off though.
Hey young boy, what kind of language you speck ?
I speak fast
So nice
So this has to happen for me this year. I see a lot of videos really pushing screws rather than compressor driven nail guns. Thoughts? For sure the screws are a little more expensive but no compressor, etc.
Yeah I like screws for somethings. I used them to install my ridge beam. Then again on the rafters just one in each to get them in place. Other then that I like using nails. If you don’t have a compressor you could buy the pasaload cordless framing nailer! You don’t need a compressor. It comes with a battery and charger for $399. Here in Alabama! Then you buy the gas fuel cell and your ready to go. I told myself that when I build again I’m going to buy one. I don’t have to wait for the compressor to recharge, or deal with the hose being tangled or not long enough. So anyway that my thoughts. Good luck with your build! What size building do you plan to build?
Which gun and nails you use?
I came here looking for instructions so I could learn. I'm not learning anything.
Just picked one up today. Currently $299 at Lowe’s. Mowers over the past couple of years have skyrocketed in price !
I know! I thought the same thing! How do you like it?
@@weightbuilddig166 I’m a big fan of these MTD build mowers. The deck does well and mulching and bagging. It’s lightweight and parts are everywhere. I purchased it to put it in storage until my other two break.
Dayummmm....I'm seeing em online for 399...I guess the price went up. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@rorysuire6177 they did. I see they’re $399 now. It was just a week long sale at Lowe’s.
I missed that sale! It ended 4/8 (i think), I was busy with the Eclipse. Now they're on "sale" again but $399.
Watch it when you get home
Solid job, he put shear wall.... Smart...... He also is making the top boards 2x6 for extra strength.... SMART!
You got er done 👍 Nice trailer for your machine
12” long and 16” high ?
12 feet wide 16 feet long 9 feet wall height
You'r a fast worker, and 2800. bucks, unbelievable. Good video.
Does it have Bluetooth and if so how do you pair to your phone?
Yes it does have Bluetooth. You turn on your Bluetooth on your phone and look for the radio and then hit pair. That’s how it worked for my iphone.
One of the Best trucks on the road !!
I'm thinking about doing a 16x24 shop/shed on gravel pad with treated skids. I plan to just scale up your build to those dimensions. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
You could do gavel pad with concrete cinderblocks on the four corners and half way down the 24’ wall. That’s what I’m doing so I can park in it without having skids or plywood underneath the vehicle
Note to self: cellulose pvc for bottom 12" of sheathing + soffits & trim. Also, "sheet clips" to seperate osb
On the roof, is that 2x8s for the ends and 2x6s for everything in between? I like your way of doing the overhang, much more reliable than the ladder method. Thank you, looks great!
Thanks! I used 2x6 for the rafters. And 2x4 on the ends
Are those 35s?
Looks great love the Ozzy @11:30
Thank you for posting this video. Just bought a set of these exact ones and I'm waiting for delivery.
Oh cool! Yeah I really like them. Super easy to put on, and they look good!
I hope you have better luck with your package than I did. Just got my running boards yesterday and find that all 6 brackets are missing with numerous nuts and bolts missing. But hey; they threw in a bag of misc nuts and bolts that don’t even go with the running boards. And their customer service is a pathetic joke. Emails are a joke as well. So trying to get my mounting brackets may never happen. Do business with American made products.
Does the radiator have to be drained to replace the thermostat?
Yes
😅 love your content and videos! Also Cat got ur tounge?? 😂
Thanks! What you talking about? Cat got my tongue?
@@weightbuilddig166 in the beginning of the video you kept crossing ur words 😁 hehe and kept mixing up your words 😅
Lol gotcha.
