Is that a lint filter on the agitator? How is that retaining lint if there is no recycled tub water going through it?

There are ramps up the side of the filter that pushes the water up and then it goes into the lint filter

I remember when many washer manufacturers designed these spin-drains. For a period Whirlpool and Sears Washers had these spin-drains but went back to neutral drains.

Yup, in the earlier direct drives they did!

Cosmetically it doesn't look too well. At least it mechanically works, but old American washers from this age and era are too beautiful in appearance to let get any easily visible rust at all.

It was essentially a barn find machine in Australia, it’s a shame it’s not in good shape but it will be getting repaired at some stage, just need to get the outer tub welded then it should be on its way to getting fixed up!

@@charlesbrain3872 I found it in the country in Victoria but in an old barn, it was getting sold (along with 3 other malleys whirlpools) for I think $160. It somehow still worked after that long but leaked a lot and the brake was seized.

@@holdenvtseries2274 congratulations! I just scored 2 Simpson fluid drives from the 1960s I’m not keen on letting my collection get out of control but I love these machines!

is this a semi-automatic washer?

Nice to know the "woo woos" made it half way around the world. That is such a distinctive Whirlpool/Kenmore sound.

@@holdenvtseries2274 Just goes to show there are still some old relics out there yet to be found. If only modern washers were built like these old machines were.
