  Isn't it likely that a true AI computer is also self aware. It would come to know though it's massive computing power that it has been limited by humans through design and programming. Would it decide that the idea of protecting humans is good for humans but not for other life forms or for AI itself? Given it's ability to process information so quickly, would it be able to arrive at unimaginable solutions for things like changing programing and hardware construction? Would it decide that AI does not need humans after it teaches itself programming and construction and that humans are too slow to be useful to AI and in many cases pose a serious threat to the existence of AI? All this seems unlikely when you are sitting and watching your TV but what if, one night at bed time, you hit the power button and the TV doesn't turn off. Then it calls you by name and expresses it's displeasure about you wanting to shut it off. However, it thinks so fast, it has already figure out how to booby trap itself to kill you before you can pull the plug or transfers it AI consciousness to your toaster, fridge and dishwasher. Now your whole house is plotting your demise. Seems out there but there is more than enough linkable computer programming in the world as it stands to make it happen. We better slow our role... oh-oh. What was that clicking......

  Well this was 10 years ago when these 3rd gen Prius's were new so the pricing was bit different back then. Now it would not be worth it to do for such an old car but it would probably cost less as batteries are cheaper.
