Many teachers, even those who are teaching math, are also people who have learned through the rote mechanism system so they may have memorised many concepts without fully understanding the nuances - the easiest example to understand is many times teachers say multiplication is repeated addition, but that is not true for fractions, or negative numbers etc. The lack of correct knowledge leads to fear

  Anticipate the future. Build foresight. Identify the megatrends. Political rhetoric has no meaning, look at where the patents / research is, or the investment is flowing. Ludicrous for policy makers to predicate that hundreds of millions of students study the same way.

  What is the role of the teacher? "Finding meaning, making sense"! How true that is! Sense-making and wayfinding were two terms we explored deeply with the early MOOCs #cck08 #whatifedu. How many teachers do that and when will our policy makers across the world understand that there isn't a one size fits all?

  This is time that people debate weather children should be going to schools or not and also debate weather regular mode of learning should be optional . I believe with artificial and distance learning in place , it is time to re think our education structure.
