Feels like what Aune did is modernize the HD600/650. More soundstage, flatter bass, still great mids and unfatiguing but not dark treble, easy to drive out of anything. I have a 600 and Sundara and the Sundara's treble is just a tad too sharp, and then the mids scoop I don't like. Ordered one of these guys to maybe replace the Sundara for me, they're just too power hungry but I do like that flat bass.

@@wana.me003 I just got them the other day and I'm still figuring out how I like them. Firstly they do seem to actually need burn in - most have said the same thing about this headphone. Most things don't, this apparently does. It starts out trebly and warms up and tames out. I haven't done a lot of head to head but I think a Sundara might be a better headphone overall, if you can get one second hand for the same price or such, but this one isn't a slouch. It's got more extension than the 600 which is very mids focused and a little dated even if good overall. I've heard many say it's basically like a 560s without the small 6khz shouty peak. But for the price those go for nowadays you might be in for a steal. Either way you can't really go wrong, I think.

Due to the nature of MLD drivers, they very much benefit from a burn-in process (say at least 100+ hours). I'm not there yet because mine are only 2 days old, but others claim that they become nearly another headphone due to that and that was meant in a very good way. They gain clarity, space, and especially accuracy (in terms of speed and attack time of the drivers). Let's see if I can confirm that, too. ...maybe you can, Acho? and thanks for your insights!

Bought this little gem just recently and haven't yet hooked it up but I was impressed immediately upon opening the package. It was shipped to me in a box full of packing peanuts (which I hate because they don't remain in the box after being opened). A second box then presented itself and I had to open that one which once opened had styrofoam and bubble wrap protecting it. This box was in a sleeve. The packaging was really impressive and that kind of matters to me because obviously it shows a level of care throughout the delivery chain. So once I removed the DAC it immediately became apparent to me that this tiny thing was built like a battleship. I will point out that one of the rubber tips on the feet had come off and was firmly stuck on the the silver aluminum bottom panel and the double sided tape was pretty much destroyed while removing it but that shouldn't be a big deal. To be clear, this is a very simple DAC which features few bells and whistles but I love simplicity, and I find this baby to be one really sexy looking piece of gear. AND, it's going to free up a ton of desk space as it's one third the size of the DAC currently being used on my desktop, a ten year old Emotiva XDA-2 Gen 2. I paid $400 for this DAC after hearing good reports from some who actually own it. I will pair this up with a Woo Audio WA6 tube amplifier, Cayin mini-cd mk2 cd player, Schiit Lokius EQ and connect to my PC.

Hola Acho! I read your written review on the S9C, and I was wondering if you could elaborate more when you wrote about the music still continuing to play when you switched inputs from USB to another. Does this mean the unit, when connected by USB, allow you to hear two inputs at once? ie. USB + another. That would be handy if you could hear system sounds (notifications, gaming, etc) from your PC, while listening to music from another input at the same time.
@achoreviews.english3 ай бұрын
Hi @dat8it , it isn't possible to hear two inputs at the same time. What I was referring to is the fact that on many devices, when you move away from the USB input, it breaks the USB connection with the PC. In the case of the S9c, that doesn't happen, in fact, the music doesn't even pause.
