I see this as a way to convince the American audiences to be okay with how our goverment is laundering money through Ukrainian. To be honest. I want the united states goverment to get its greedy vile little fingers out of every country. Im sick of these Hollywood and political actors. This is nothi g more than money laundering and the building up of and using of the war machine. The united states government has far too much blood on its hands. This guy is a fucking clown.

Wonderful presentation, sadly, just like us in the time of our studies, we‘ve seen pretty prominent exiting, while very relevant questions and knowledge was discussed.

So basically Sean Penn is putting down the United States of America. And we have to help everybody all around the world we can't even help ourselves. The only thing the government of the United States should be doing is taking care of its own. Then after you do that you can help whoever you want to around the world

This film def needs two watches! The first time I feel like I was enchanted by the seemingly disconnected story line. As Josh says, it’s a film you have to chew on a while. The second time, I got a more comprehensible understanding. I think John is writing the novel (Majewski’s screenplay) he’s put off doing because he’s afraid to try. The chapters are numbered with cryptic titles until you realize what the thread is that connects them. We are in John’s head from the time he tries to do something different till the end when he writes his dreams of his wife’s return as an ephemeral memory. I think this film is about Lech’s creative process. Maybe his way out of writer’s block. The desire to make something different, new, fresh. Lech shows us cages, symbolic and actual, that prevent us from being free of our self-imposed restrictions. That’s revealed when the mogul escapes his castle to be a beggar, for instance. When the monotony of the people’s actions in the cages are more comfortable to them than escaping. The scenes of the Native Americans and their myths are another POV of the theme. The incarceration by alcohol, the liberation when the natural order of things is upended and the birth, the overcoming of powerlessness, that’s symbolic in the mythical birth of the baby (creative inspiration) and its crushing triumph. I’ll tell you, I chewed on this film four times and loved it more and more ☺️

Joel. Is it true that you’re fired John Morrisey because he told you to not let your insecurities get the best of you. Didn’t he call you THE COCK ? Joel, SHAVE YOUR HEAD. BY THE WAY, YOUR SPEECH FOR YOUR OSCAR, FOR THE UNFORGIVEN WAS JUST ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.

Many foreigners may not realize, but "American Beauty" for many Polish viewers seems like a rip-off of Kieślowski's early film "Bez końca", the voice over narrative of the already dead protagonist is borderline plagiarism, of course we may go all the way back to "Sunset Boulevard" when we're tracking down plagiarism here, but it was somehow logical to award Mendes with this award, him and Kieślowski seem to share similar sensitivity in their movies.
