    Ive never had so much fun riding than on a 150. My bike was down 1 weekend and a 150 was lended to me. I thought right away that this was going to be brutal. Boy was i wrong!!! That bike went everywhere the 300's went. Being able to ride a bike to its full potential was a feeling of incrdibel joy. Fully tapped out in first second third for the majority of time. if i did that on a 250 or 300 I'd be dead. The slow stuff was great too. I high centered myself on a log in a river. I thought ok now im in trouble, lets see what happens. Well a little hip thrust forward with some gas and a little clutch that bike went up and over that log like nothing. My jaw dropped!! And i wasnt even tired when we got back to the the trucks. My friends on their 300's were exhausted. It was a huge ego check for me.

    You might laugh, but this is the bike I'm leaning towards. I'll need to do a few mods, hand guards, skid plate, rad guard, bigger fuel tank, foot pegs and of course suspension and a better seat. Once done you have a reasonable dual sport that's long range, crazy reliable, oil changes every 10k kms, and barely capable of highway speeds. In the Philippines it will run about 6.5-7k CAD, the parts and the bike are a bit cheaper there. The high seat height, ground clearance, low weight and and especially the range is very nice. It's 25 kms to the nearest gas station. Plus it's appropriate for my skill level lol. Nice riding and thanks for the honest review 👍

    Honestly if I wanted a dual sport for longer trips or general exploring, especially outside the US - this bike would be high on my list. Cheap, reliable, low maintenance. Compared to my KTM 350 or even something like a CRF450L or Yamaha WR250R, the CRF300L is also much more relaxing and easier to ride.

    Great video, you're a good speaker. Be great to hear your thoughts on going from the 150 to the ec300. I have a 150tpi and a beta 200, love the quieter torque of the 200 but it has some shortcomings compared to the 150, the 150 has a lighter feel. When I jumped on an ec300 I was surprised at how heavy it is. I know horses for courses.

  • @DmitriyAdv
    @DmitriyAdv20 күн бұрын

    Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! I loved the 150 because of the light feel and flickability, but the actual weight (when picking up or dragging) between the two is not that different. The 150 was also a great learning tool - you have to carry more speed through corners, and it's light feel made it less intimidating when hitting larger obstacles. It absolutely made me a better rider, and when I hopped back onto a 300 I was much quicker in both open and technical terrain than I was on the 300 that I had before the 150. The main disadvantage of small bore two strokes is that they don't lug and find traction nearly as well as a 300 (or even a 250). This is something that is absolutely critical in hard enduro situations where you are going up ridiculously steep terrain that is also very slippery. Hard enduro is primarily what I ride/race and is ultimately why I ended up switching from the 150 back to a 300.

    Well done video. I have not tried many OTC braces I have used a few custom ones through the years: Donjoy Defiance I, II, III, CTi 1, 2, and I actually did have a set of CTi OTC (more on that later). I agree that the Defiance is your best option, and I frankly don't think it's close. The Defiance have all fit very well and they have the option for a short lower frame if you want it to mount outside your boots. The CTi 1 I had was not bad but was never anywhere close to as comfortable as the Defiance I or II. I agree that the down side is the hard shell protection. I wear Leatt Dual Axis Knee Guards and I wish there was a hybrid of the two concepts. I tried to get a set of CTi 2 braces about ten years ago and they made two sets and could not get them to fit correctly and eliminate all pressure points. When they gave up, they gave me a pair of OTC braces (as in the video). These were "OK" but the fit was not what I would call great and I threw them away before I got a whole lot of use out of them and went back to the Defiance. In my opinion, any of the modern OTC moto specific braces would be better than the CTi OTC. I also noticed that the distance between the hinges was by far the widest with these braces, making them very difficult to wear under most moto pants.

  • @DmitriyAdv
    @DmitriyAdvАй бұрын

    There are some pretty protective road racing boots out there. Speaking from experience, I think an MX boot might be somewhat difficult to operate typical street bike controls with. The reality is that mx style impact protection (boots, body protectors...etc) really only works at relatively low speeds and for things like smashing your feet against rocks, stumps, and other motorcycles. You may want to look at something like a trials boot as Ryan F9 suggests.

    Just curious about your opinion on the comparison of the 300 engine between the 300RR and the XTrainer. I bought the XTrainer as my first 2-stroke because of the linear power delivery, the ability to modify the engine to be like the 300RR's if I ever feel like I want it in the future, and because of the lower seat height. I mentioned something about getting the 300RR pipe and air filter cage and getting the engine to be like the 300RR's and someone else told me I was thinking about it in the wrong way; that people with the 300RR and Race Editions should try to make their power more like the power on the XTrainer. Thoughts?

  • @DmitriyAdv
    @DmitriyAdvАй бұрын

    It depends on what you want to use the bike for. The power on the Xtrainer is very linear and almost docile. It's not a very racey motor, so it will probably fit people who aren't looking to go fast better. I've seen quite a few Xtrainers with 300RR pipes. Would make quite the woods weapon!

    Hey man have you gotten a chance to run the en91ex yet? Curious to hear your thoughts about how it compares to the jx8

  • @DmitriyAdv
    @DmitriyAdv2 ай бұрын

    I ran it at Battle of the Goats this past weekend. For what it's worth, most of the A and Pro riders were either on Michelin Xtrem or this tire. It worked great - lots of grip! I like the larger 140 footprint, feels a bit more stable on sidehills and when pivoting the bike around. Grip on wet rocks or logs is especially good. It's not the best tire for loose terrain (loose dirt, sand...etc). Wear is probably about on par with the JX8. It's definitely not a long lasting tire. Overall, I'd run it again!

  • @DmitriyAdv
    @DmitriyAdv2 ай бұрын

    Also, note that you need to run it with fairly low pressures or soft mousses for it to work properly. I ran it with a drilled plushie nitromousse and it worked well.

    @DmitriyAdv dangggg that's a gnarly race dude! I appreciate your insight, I'm doing silverkings in June and I'm thinking that the jx8 (which I've ran in the past) might be better for the loamier dirt that's up there and the en91ex better for more solid ground. Would you agree with that? I'll definitely be running some low pressure with whatever I go with. I ran tubliss last year at silverkings, and it cut a hole straight through the jx8, and I was on a flat all day. Now I'm running a plushie but can't get it soft enough without drilling, and I don't wanna lose the longevity of it. So now I'm gonna try a lucioli to get something in the middle. Sorry for my rant 🤣

I found that the best thing to do is find some local pros or A riders and ask them what they run, because terrain is so different everywhere. I’ve been using the JX8 the last few years but this year I wanted to try a 140/80. The Dunlop was out of stock so I grabbed a Kenda Knarly 140/80. It’s a true 140 so I had to get the soft Nitromousse 325 for it. So far I really like it. I definitely feel more cushioning slamming into rocks. It has FIM size knobs which I also wanted to try. The Euro bros swear they improve feel and less squirm on rocks. I don’t have an opinion on that yet, but I didn’t notice any traction issues with the shorter knobs.

    I really like the JX8, it's been my go-to tire for gnarly stuff where a VE33s is not sufficient. I went through two VE33s' and two JX8s in the last 12 months (as well as an AT81 EX and a Tusk Talon), so I have a good feel for them and will be interesting to compare to the EN91EX. Riding in Romania got me interested in the FIM 140s as well. That's what everyone there rides on and it feels like you have tons of traction and the trails seem like they're in much better shape. Granted the dirt/terrain is different everywhere, I'm not sold on taller knobs being useful in anything outside of sand/loam. Looking at the black plastic holder for the inset, shaving some off the rear might just do the trick of stopping the red insert popping out. Overall I like the boot though, I think the Leatt designed these with a different approach to other manufacturers with passive protection to remove the heavy initial impact/deflection forces, rather than making a solid unforgiving boot. I'm comparing them to Astars tech7, Sidi Atojo, crossfire 3 and the X power. Tech 7 were too soft after a few rides, and I always struggled with shifts. Crossfire 3 are still going strong, however not the best support for the leg in side impacts. Also the worst boot to get on with the little routine you have to do to strap in. Atojo - very comfortable, better toe box than crossfire, go on easy and are solid despite just three buckles. Very good dexterity of controls. Current favourites are the X power with trails soles, Game changer ! Excellent support and a welted sole, total connection to bike and the reason why the top hard enduro lads use them, although they are always a pain to strap up. I'll see how I get on with the Leatt, with a view to getting the new Sidi with the Vibram soles

    @@adamhrachowina9119 appreciate the detailed breakdown of your own experiences. I haven't owned any Sidi boots aside from the adventure, but have been curious to try them. Riding a lot of hard enduro badly, as well as a decent amount of faster single track, I do usually like a boot that has a lot of solid plastic protection. It's pretty typical for me to have my foot pinned between the bike and rocks, get hit by pegs, or big sticks/rocks at speed. In that respect, I don't think the X Power would be for me, but I can see the appeal! When the time comes I will probably bite the bullet and pay $500+ for a set of Gaerne SG22s.

    @@adamhrachowina9119 I did a bit of research on the X power boots and they seem interesting! How would you compare the protection level / amount of hard plastic (specifically impact/flexion) vs the Leatt?

  • @adamhrachowina9119
    @adamhrachowina91192 ай бұрын

    @@DmitriyAdv Hi, the X power feels less bulky due to less plastic, but the toe area is better protected than the Leatt as the plastic completely covers the vulnerable areas likely to get a puncture from a branch. The leatts have that soft part like the Astars with no plastic over it. The Sidi feel less substantial after having the Leatt on, but that's because of the thick lining and outer skeleton of the Leatt. In a side impact or crush the Sidi is very resistant to a snapping impact. The Leatt doesn't even come close to the Sidis dexterity on the bike, although I've only worn the Leatt a couple of times so my opinion may change. The best review I've seen on the Sidi is by Atomic Moto, he explains the boot well. If you do go for a pair get the flat trials sole fitted 👌 Have a look at

    Haha, yep that usually happens when I jab the rear brake a bit too hard, it's pretty hard to stall the two stroke otherwise. The green is coming any time now! Leaves are already starting to open up around here (south part of the state), so probably another week for up north.

    very good video and explanation. You can raise the forks a couple of 2 mm and it could compensate for the feeling of less traction at the front. I also use 5mm down and 5mm low fotpegs, best regards from Guadalajara, Mexico 🔥. Also your knee brace video. He helped me choose good protection for my knees. thanks for your video
