Thanks for posting this Kareem. Kind words indeed. I saw you and Walton go up against each other in the western finals in 1977 in Memorial Coliseum in Portland. That was the best battle of two centers I have ever seen. That iconic play where Walton drove the lane late in the game And dunked over you and the crowd reaction afterward… The loudest I can ever remember a crowd getting at a sports event in my lifetime. Bill Walton that year was at his near best. That year was the most exciting of my life being a Blazer fan. Thank you for being part of that memory and rest in peace Bill Walton.

So....Kareem posted this and typed Bill Walton instead of Russell? That's the funniest part of this clip.

You said it all about Bill in the movie Airplane. Bill was a rare true 7'2" that could run, blocked shots, passed and scored likely in that order.

Just think about Kareem and Bill playing at UCLA with Coach Wooden. There was no such thing as NIL then. NBA contracts were miniscule compared to today. They weren't playing for money. They played basketball for fun, for competition, for a sense of purpose and because they just loved the game. A huge part of that is lost today and can never be regained. At the base of Coach Wooden's famous Pyramid of Success are these words: Industriousness, Friendship, Loyalty, Cooperation and Enthusiasm. At the very top of the pyramid are two words: Faith and Patience. Bill Walton excelled in all of these parts of the pyramid. He was a good friend, a good man and a good teammate. What more can you ask for?
