Do these still have the metal inlays on the grip? Some shops appear to have them with & some without, might be regional though. Will buy one off you if so, unless you have another suggestion that better suits.. Just getting into field archery and don't want to keep stripping parts off my target recurve. Long draw so i doubt a riser under 21" would work out, not sure at all. Would love to put the extra in for a black wolf but worried it would be too short. I tried a 66" club bow as a test and it stacked like crazy, that was medium wooden limbs though, thinking i might get away with a black wolf with uuhka XLs or something... draw at pivot is 31.25" Pathfinder isn't one for me purely on appearance, but looks well made. Not sure i trust the samick discovery for more money than a w&w elk. Cheers

Unreal. Great vid full of the detail we want. Even though we know that it’s all really down to the individual and their own preferences, it’s great to hear exactly how the pros setup their bows and the rational behind those decisions. Having the top bolt wound out should increase the top tiller yeah, in effect tipping the riser forward more and putting more angle into an otherwise straight grip - is that correct?

Saying you have to use a thumb draw when shooting right around the bow is false. Lars uses a slavic draw which is similar the Mediterranean draw but uses the middle and ring finger and sometimes the little finger and places all of them beneath the arrow on the string. The index finger can then be placed on the arrow to secure it. The arrow magazine lars uses is pinched between the index finger and the thumb.

As of 2024, the Bear Montana is a damn good bow... that should be half the price it is. There's a certain luxury status to buying a Bear bow, and supporting one of the oldest and most prestigious American bowmakers certainly is a reason to get one, but that status doesn't translate directly to increased quality. The Montana would be a fantastic deal at 350$ CAD, but at 650$ it's outrageously overpriced. There are a ton of bows with similar specs to it that are just as good if not better. The Oakridge Boga has basically the exact same build, quality, and materials, but is half the price. It's 68" rather than 64" so it isn't a field bow and thus isn't a direct comparison, but the sheer fact that the quality of the bows is identical despite such a massive price drop just makes the comparison so much worse for the Montana.

Thanks for this video, there were many others I watched which were not helpful at all, they were either not using a bow stringer like this or the video was 20 minutes long etc. This was very simple and informative and I de-strung my bow in about 5 seconds. Thanks very much!.

I wonder if you can put long limbs on 19" ILF riser and use limbs which extend size of bow to 66-68" ? Could there be some issues with joints between riser and limb.. Could it make riser crack or something ? I want to buy mandarin duck riser (19" Raider) (but they make only 19" biggest risers and pair them with 43" limbs...)

I totally agree, if You have the right setup, a light weight carbon arrow and matching spine, You can do great things with a 30 lbs, even a 25 lbs bow! Sometimes the bow classes on tournaments are a problem: I love longbows and horsebows. Modern longbows and horsebows are made from modern materials (fiberglass, carbon laminated with wood or bamboo, bows sometimes are even made from resin today), but the rules force us to shoot wooden arrows! Hard to find matching wooden arrows for a 30 lbs bow, most are to heavy....
