can you share the dimensions of the deck at the beginning?

To be honest I don't remember because I cut it by chance, but each square has a side of 1 cm, so it is easily measurable.

I would very much recommend using 19cm wooden stirrers for planks rather than popsicle and bamboo sticks. Unlike popsicle and bamboo sticks wooden stirrers are super easy to cut straight with a scissor, and the finished ship will look much more authentic.

Trutly an impressive piece of work. I've ordered some soft wood, and I will try it myself next week. With a few differences of course. I will use these long coffee sticks, instead of skewers for hull.

Beginning with the main deck instead of the keel and ribbing makes the whole project much easier. Counter-intuitive to what I have seen most of the time. The ship type makes it possible so I guess a Drakkar is probably the most beginner friendly project for an aspiring age of sail modeler.

I will just have to do do some research and get supplies and build a few big frigates . I have to keep my mind busy or I’ll go bounce off the walls. Great video show a some more please?

This is perfect, didnt know where to start when someone commisoned me to make them a pair of viking ships for their funeral ashes to be set out to sea, this is perfect im glad for the work but to think my customer wants to put some of their ashes in one an set it on fire just to watch it sail away like a tradional viking funeral. A shame really with all the time/effort itll take to make two of them

Mr. Magic Stick. I would really like to make one of these. It looks like the overall dimensions are 16" length and about 3 1/2 to 4" beam? I would like to use your scale. If you answered this somewhere in this video I apologize. Really nice rendition of Viking ship.
@MagicStick Жыл бұрын
Every square in the cutting board is 1.00 cm (0.4 in). So you can estimate more or less every length. But this is not so important. Download a template for the deck (there are many), print it the size you like and follow me step by step by working and cutting the parts proportionally.

Mr. MS. Thanks so much for your reply. I am a popsicle stick, coffee stirrer, toothpick, dowel, and basswood guy. I like to just make stuff that way with no plans, or printed instructions so to speak. Now that I can verify the scale, I drew 1/4 of the deck, made a template, and 3 more. Put them all together and now I have it. Thanks again. You video is so detailed I believe I can do this now.
