"I want you to give them back, Flambeau, and I want you to give up this life. There is still youth and honour and humour in you; don't fancy they will last in that trade. Men may keep a sort of level of good, but no man has ever been able to keep on one level of evil. That road goes down and down. The kind man drinks and turns cruel; the frank man kills and lies about it. Many a man I've known started like you to be an honest outlaw, a merry robber of the rich, and ended stamped into slime. Maurice Blum started out as an anarchist of principle, a father of the poor; he ended a greasy spy and tale-bearer that both sides used and despised. Harry Burke started his free money movement sincerely enough; now he's sponging on a half-starved sister for endless brandies and sodas. Lord Amber went into wild society in a sort of chivalry; now he's paying blackmail to the lowest vultures in London. Captain Barillon was the great gentleman-apache before your time; he died in a madhouse, screaming with fear of the 'narks' and receivers that had betrayed him and hunted him down. I know the woods look very free behind you, Flambeau; I know that in a flash you could melt into them like a monkey. But some day you will be an old grey monkey, Flambeau. You will sit up in your free forest cold at heart and close to death, and the tree-tops will be very bare. "Your downward steps have begun. You used to boast of doing nothing mean, but you are doing something mean tonight. ... But you will do meaner things than that before you die." -- Father Brown, "The Flying Stars"
That’s a new one, a crooked warden!
The episodes included skip around too much
Thanks for posting these!!!
Murder for art's sake. Mercifully rare, but not unheard-of.
why am i here? 👁️
The whole blue coal ad is full of nonsense, because "burning evenly" is NOT a function of the coal but rather the surroundings/conditions of/inside the oven.
SCIENCE is done by: 1. making a CLAIM 2. PROVING the claim ... through a) repeatable experiments, b) statistics (that are honest) and/or c) logical chains of arguments 3. followed by ALLOWING THIS TO BE CRITICISED to "find flaws" P.S.: Feelings cant be proven and are thus NOT basis of any scientific evidence and if you DONT ALLOW criticism of your claims, you arent scientific either!
If there was no Shadow there would never would been Batman
Thanks
this is a very sad tale of a kid who was homeless who was murdered.
what happened to jamie and robin?
Subbed
Thanks for preserving the Shadow for future generations. For who knows what evil lurks in the heart of men.
23 here and been into the shadow and pulp comics for a while. Ill make sure my kids give it a listen/read one day.
Pure radio magic
im glad i checked this out I’ve got a new favorite hobby out of this.better entertainment than watching tv moves or many modern things it seems.i can only hope we one day get more things like this.however like the shadow i to unfortunately know the evil in the harts of men.
that was masterful storytelling. 25:27
my grandfather talked about this glad i remembered to look it up.hope your all well.
I wish the episodes listed the cast members. The actor voicing Walter Tracy sounds like Harry Morgan, who played Officer Gannon in the TV series.
I do appreciate the fact that they actually recorded a real phone call off a phone line back then instead of using fake sounds like most other radio shows did for the dialtone and busy signal.
This was a good spooky tale. 5-16-24
These are SO good! Love them. Thank you so much xxxx
Jack and Ben and Bart ❤❤❤
Jack and Ben and Bart ❤❤❤
❤❤❤ Jack and Bart
A very chilling tale. 4-29-24
Somebody should remake all these episodes.
Where was Roseland Roof?
Please stop advertising cigarettes. It’s a really nasty habit to encourage and it causes cancer, along with tremendous family pain. How horribly ironic that cigarettes which aren’t sold anymore are being advertised on a show that doesn’t run anymore starring actors that died of lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. Just stop.
My favorite radio episode of the Shadow.
More of the clock please most enjoyable little tales
Family Guy lol
This episode was a banger.
I have never listened to a radio drama before. This is wild

"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow NOSE. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
One of my favorite episodes. 4-7-24
Actually, the first ever recording ever made was In 1860 when Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville recorded a but of A French Song Called “Au Clair de la Lune”
Creepy!
