I used to see Devon Gayle play on a regular basis for Dagenham F C.

And of course, in true Romford FC fashion , it would all go tits up not long after. But you can never take that day away from me #bucketlist #tick

The decline of the club started when speedway racing was introduced to Brooklands. The ground was ruined and eventually sold for development.

Dwight Gayle's dad played for Romford and young Dwight came over a few times to see him. Magical day for all the Boro fans and a credit for both clubs. A special mention must go to Lincoln Utd. for the semi-final that led to this day. A pennant marking that match has been left behind the bar of a Wembley pub, so people will recognise their achievement, too, and they had people coming down to cheer us on.

Now we need to show how professional our entire club is from the moment we arrive at our ground on Thursday. We are going to be judged on our preparation and presentation more than at any time since we reformed, both on and off the pitch.

When I looked after the turnstile for Romford FC in the 1990s, Bill McKenzie would tell me about this match. Sadly for me, it was 18 years before I was born, a year the club also won the Southern League, 1967. Also sadly, Brooklands was shut down before I had the opportunity to go there and it wasn't until 1992, when the club reformed that I finally saw my first match. Now, 30 years later, I've clocked up well over 1,000 competitive matches in varying roles, currently running the boardroom. Anyone coming over to Mayesbrook Park (Barking FC) to see our home matches now is sure to see faces they know from the old days and have a good chat.

Absolutely brilliant! I didn't know that any film of the Amateur Cup Final day existed. I watched Romford from 1956 until the end of their time at Brooklands.
