I think Ritchie Blackmore is uncomfortable with other guitarists idolizing or attempting to emulate him so closely and not developing their own style. Ritchie Blackmore's honesty can tend to sound hurtful to his fans and those who are unintiated with his feelings and sense of identity as a individual. And for those who simply enjoy Ritchie playing his guitar for himself and those who respect his music.

When he found it, the result was sublime, according to Blackmore. That sentiment is what Blackmore is speaking to here: the adventure and spontaneity and discovery of music through playing the guitar. Therefore, being polished is less valuable than allowing for the search to inspire. Nevertheless, Satriani is an amazing player.
