The fact that San Francisco (less than a million in population) can be compared to a huge city like NYC (8 million) says a lot about SF. A lot of the modern world was founded or made big here in the Bay Area…. Popsicles, Fortune Cookies, Uber, Facebook, KZread, Apple, Lyft, Google, Oracle and so much more…. All those great minds rub off on the people here… we’re small but very mighty. I, personally, prefer SF because you can do almost everything you can do in NYC, just less crowded.

In SF ,even when you wake and it's a sunny nice day, you still bring a sweater, it can cool down pretty fast. Golden Gate park is 1/3 bigger and much wilder then Central park and the neighborhoods surrounding it are pretty safe. By the way, you can surf at SF beaches.

It almost never rains in SF? 😂 Anyway, I’ve only been to NYC for a few days in 2011, but id rather pick here than any city in the NorCal hell hole. You choose your circle/crowd, but there are WAY more pompous, ahole tech bros and entitled incel nerds in the Bay. 😂😂

I love San Francisco cause of Hundrwd of Hills. Everywhere in tge City has a grat view. Even the Annnocrntams on Muni is in Chinse. Saleforce has the answer the NYC WTC.Chimatown is older 30 years than SF. Dim Sum is more expensive in S.G. it cold most of rime in the Summer in S. F.. Golden gaye is b8ke friendly. You can only bike the Varzanno only that one time a year 🎉 .

What are you smoking? Over the years ,and as recently as this year, San Francisco has been consistently ranked in the top 20 cities IN THE WORLD by multiple sources. You have clearly never lived here and are just regurgitating what you heard about the purported doom loop.

Grand Rapids is sooo boring! It lacks diversity, the job market is dull, public transportation is lukewarm at best, the infrastructure is poorly maintained, it’s suffering the same housing shortage as SF and NY, and has a higher crime rate than San Francisco(9.8 vs 6.7 per 1000), a 30% higher chance to be a victim of a crime. I last travelled alone to Manhattan and I loved it! I could do whatever I wanted and I could walk and walk and walk and not get delayed and I agree it's healthy! Hey what a terrific cooking hack with the frozen shrimp and adding it to packaged ramen. I have food allergies but I can find things! I love the book you took along! Fabulous! A must read for people. Great video! You do awesome insightful work. You let yourself be vulnerable. That takes courage. Yes! We can definitely be comfortable with our own presence. It just gets rough when we are always alone - that's unhealthy. I am working on it. Cheers!

Vancouver has caught up to SF rents. Who would have thought? People would have to histle to pay $2,200 a month for a one bedroom in Vancouver. The prices are honestly gettinbg insane for my home city although I have moved and wow it's difficult. I realize this is a deal at $2,200 - it has to be! I love the Mission District in SF! Hey I loved the bagels in the last video I watched! I always bring a couple of dozen bagels back from Montreal or Manhattan!! They are so delicious!! Cheers!! 🙂

I am appreciative for your moving advice and making new friends. It gets massively more difficult with older age. I feel young internally but divorcing and making a major city move at 52 has been agonizingly difficult. I have read again and again that the older we get the harder it becomes to meet new people and make new friends. In my age group most people are married and have huge time commitments with family. I see to keep trying with the wrong people. I feel like I am going backwards constantly and yet I have had a loving social group all of my life. But this is the first time I have made a huge move. I did it so I could buy a home after divorcing but Vancouver has exploded in cost and isn't that far anymore from SF and NYC - crazy. That's all great but having spent a few lonely years has been painful. The smaller place I am in isn't friendly. Very weird. Many young people or much older people seem to be the primary residents. A message to people is when thinking about moving research enormously before so. Go visit the place, see what it's like, a few times at least and ask around with locals. People often tell me it's hard to meet people where I am. Yup it sure is. Loneliness brings depressed and it's actually pretty serious when it sets in. I appreciate your thoughts and opinions! Terrific videos! Your channel is fabulous!! Cheers!! Is that your sister or friend? She's so supportive! Do you both live in SF? I'm not meaning to be nosy! Great videos! Be well!

I really enjoy the well balanced view of both cities and squash the stereotypes of each of them. I grew up in Queens and relocated to SF for a job 3 years ago, which I must say the energy shift was a huge cultural difference for me. Then NYC is more of concrete jungle but SF def has more mature to offer in close proximity. Overall, it’s a great life experience before settling down.

I was born in sf, raised there for 5 years and came back after 2 to an area 20 minutes outside. Sf honestly I would say is more for a morning person. The sunrise in the morning is great and it’s always refreshing, never get tired of it. I have been accustomed to the weather so I I honestly just wear a regular t shirt. It’s usually 45-55 degrees so it’s not too cold. I’m not sure about nightlife because I’m not even old enough to drink and I don’t even have a car but from what I’ve seen it’s not that crazy. By around 10pm the city starts to fade as the sun is gone and the lights turn on. It feels a little bit sad, “like oh, where all the people go?” 😢. I wouldn’t say they are unsafe to walk though. I’ve walked late at night (11pm-2am) in the hilly areas, downtown, pier, south, it’s very chill just lonesome. Where I live which is around 20 min from sf it’s super safe to walk… not even an expensive neighborhood. I have walked at all times of the day/night. I haven’t been to New York (but I want to) but I would say based on the videos and media I’ve seen, I definitely appreciate SF architecture a lot more… maybe it’s because I was born there. Transportation lately isn’t even that bad. It’s actually free. I only use Bart though to get to sf and in the city I just walk. Embarcadero station going through Chinatown and hills to fisherman’s wharf to me is like 17 minutes walking. A lot of things are accessible by foot. I like their parks and recreational areas or libraries, they are all super clean, green, and relaxing. My fav thing to do is go early morning, sleep at a park for a few hours or just lie there underneath the rising Sun, go to cafe and study, come back to park, library maybe and back to park, then get some boba or drink from a new place to try.

Pacifica for surfing is not 2-3 hours away. More like 30 at the most if you live on the far end of the ci… SF is walkable compared to other cities besides NY. Same with public transportation. I love the diversity of sf compared to say Midwest. SF is friendly. I never lived in NY, I’ve just heard stereotypes. It seems easy to have a dog in SF bus of lotsa open space.

I grew up in NYC and live in SF. I've never driven in either city and I don't really have a problem with the public transportation here. It gets me where I need to go, and I find the city pretty walkable. I miss NYC's theater scene, but I love the weather & nature in SF. My favorite thing is being able to walk to Golden Gate Park from my home.

As a European that lived all over the usa, the usa was a massive disappointment all around exept for Chicago and new york. Thoes cities I would call developed. Cities like san francisco, where there were more empty self driving cars than there actual people living in a city...not so much. Its like you planned an American suburb but in a city, like LA except at least its a little more dense than La. LA was just awful, nothing to see or do there except park and drive. San Francisco pretty much the same, but at least some pretty rememanents of the past remain. Still though, compared to Chicago or new york, it felt like I went to a less developed country. Transit is basically non existent and slower than busses and cars when it is there, the weather is the only thing I liked about the city. The beaches were awful, I dont know how you can ruin a beach like that but san francisco and LA know how to do it. Also the streets, my god evedy street is highway sized and the sidewalks are smaller than new york sidewalks.
