    Maybe these athletes have sacrificed a hell of a lot, worked hard every day to be top of their game in an Olympic year, leveraging new learnings in training and diet. It’s outrageous to suggest they are doping based on good times. Go back to your own life and try to do something good instead of criticising these wonderful hard working and underpaid athletes.

    This is soooo stupid, everybody talking about the 2 races, where Jakob was second......how about all the other races where he won......for f**k sake HE WON EVERYTHING ELSE, there is no rivalry whatsoever......he is holding WRs 20 times....obviously you didn't follow his path since he was 10......there is no "showdown" Jakob will win with a new OR. PERIOD.

    Diamond League events, with their one, sometimes two, pacemakers resemble time trials more than actual races. Ingebritzen excels at those. However, he's been found out twice in a row at the highest levels of championship racing. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the winner at the Olympics 1500 is unexpected, someone who doesn't have the pressure on to the extent that Kerr and Ingebritzen have.

    jakob has a pb of 12:48, he can win fast and tactical races. i think jakob has a higher chance to win the gold in the 5k than in the 1.5k, in the 1.5k he basically needs to run a time trial without a pacer, in a tactical race kerrs chances are higher.

    Its really interesting how ppl think that based on the few data points we have with these last couple World Champs. But the same way Jakob had a bad day and lost in the 15 two years in a row, Cheptegei and Barega also coincidentally had off days that facilitated Jakob's wins. And Kiplimo didnt even run in '22 or '23. All these things could easily go the other way in Paris. With Jakob's current fitness, I'd say he is unrivaled in the 15 but he could meet his match in the 5.

    Gebrhiwet will not medal. That one-off 12:36 two months ago is actually a demerit, especially considering his most recent performance was a 9th place. He is not peaked for august, and hes 30.

  • @AdamJansen786
    @AdamJansen78623 сағат бұрын

    Interesting. I still think he will do well because you can’t call a 12:36 a pure fluke. Granted you are right that he May have peaked early and tired himself out which is why I demoted him to bronze. Guess we will see who’s right!

    The point about relying on pacers doesn’t make sense because in the 3k Josh just paced off of grant and kicked in him so he’s also relying on pacers but we’ve seen Jakob run times without pacers for a good amount take the 2 mile in Paris like he split a 3:53 solo for the second half.

  • @AdamJansen786
    @AdamJansen78623 сағат бұрын

    The difference is that josh will have ingebrigtsen and cheruiyot to pace off given both those athletes front run in pretty much every final they race in. So the lack of pacers affects Josh much less because Jakob and cheruiyot will be his pacers.

  • @RiqMoran

    @@AdamJansen786 yeah Kiplimos a sleeper pick. But i quite like his results this season. He won XC, then 2 months later yeah he ran a 12:40 and lost, but he lost to guys who ran so fast idk if they flew too close to the sun. Now 2 months after that here we are. In that context i think that 12:40 looks pretty good actually.

  • @7agneskickingbird7
    @7agneskickingbird723 сағат бұрын

    Good analysis! Unlike in your 1500m prediction video where I said it is difficult picking the winner, I am a bit more confident in Jakob Ingebrigtsen winning the 5000m. Given his 7:54.1 2 mile world record and 7:23 3000m closing in 25.8 24 hours after a 3:43 mile, I would say his engine is pretty strong and could likely run 12:40 or faster for 5000m in a time trial. 12:40 or faster ability combined with 3:26 1500m speed makes him extremely hard to beat. Though there is always the possibility he messes up his tactics or positioning and other fantastic athletes in the field can run past him or hold him off. I would actually say his biggest threat in a 5000m championship setting would be Mo Katir. 3:28, 7:24 indoors and 12:45 is a good combination to have though for obvious reasons we will not be seeing him anytime soon. Cheers!

  • @AdamJansen786
    @AdamJansen78623 сағат бұрын

    Yeah this is a lot more clear to me than the 5000m because Jakob can keep up with whatever pace the Ethiopians will realistically throw at him and then have the speed to put kick them on top of that. Looking forward to it!

  • @RiqMoran
    @RiqMoran23 сағат бұрын

    The problem with Geb and Kejelcha is that they clearly peaked 2 months ago based on their results. Also, Geb is 30 and Kejelcha historically does not show up at peak fitness for championships and fails to medal. Unfortunately i think it will be the same this season.

  • @RiqMoran
    @RiqMoran23 сағат бұрын

    Now, if you want good examples of textbook championship season results imo, look at Barega Ingebrigtsen and Kiplimos results. Theyre fast and consistent but not too fast that you would think they peaked far out from the championship.

  • @Unknownd54
    @Unknownd5422 сағат бұрын

    @@RiqMoran yeah that’s not not uncommon with Ethiopians coz their trials are so competitive, meaning they almost need to be in peak shape early in the season to even qualify to the summer champs. Jakob is actually fairly lowly ranked on times, which actually makes his Josh Kerr shade more ironic, as Jakob won the world title without being even the top ranked Norwegian in 2023! His best bet is a 12.50 to 13.00 finish time. Maybe Gebrewhet has learned lessons from the past where he and the Ethiopians had much better times than Mo Farah, yet ran to Mo's strengths. Maybe he hasn't!

    @@ancro2040 Agree he doesn't run too often and should, could be faster but his best of 12.48 was set in a hard Diamond League race, over 10 secs slower than the world record. My point is, if the race plays out with a likely finishing time of 12.50 to 13.00, very hard for anyone to beat him. If they run sub 12.40, it brings other actors into it. Can't see that pace without sacrificial team running though from the East Africans.
