Oooh i can hear my driving instructor now. You're coasting to a stop there. A fail in the UK driving test. Maybe it's different where you are. Lovely car! Sounds wonderful. I love the white combined with the wire wheels.

The dude painted the rear outside body panel white! FYI, there is a solid reason WHY Triumph painted ALL of them black. Given the body style, that back panel sucks up more road dirt than most. In fact it's the dirtiest part of the car's exterior, so I'm surprised he had it painted WHITE of all colors. Also, for enthusiasts, it's a dead giveaway that the car's been painted not to factory specification. At nineteen years old, I swapped engines and installed a new clutch in a weekend on my TR. FUN FACT : The doors on a Triumph TR6, are the EXACT same doors that are on a TR4, 250 and TR5.

Beautiful Mk1... just three things I'd point out. There front and rear screens do not have the plastic chrome finishers in the lock grooves. Those chrome headlight things aren't good on a Spitfire. That's the previous owner's taste, I appreciate but I think he watched too much Munsters 😂 and finally, and this one causes so much debate in Spitfire groups: I've always hated the luggage racks on the boots (or trunk, as you call it). I know it's a personal taste thing as most people who add them don't seem to actually use them. My reason for hating them is that the early round tail Spitfires particularly have the most beautiful, elegant curves and lines and the racks just spoil these.Plus, often when selling the car on, the new owner who, like me, would want to remove it immediately, is stuck with either 2 or 4 holes in the lid. But all this aside, this is a beautiful example of a Spitfire 4 (Mk1) and I rather suspect it went to a good home! 👌😉❤

The sounds so good. Do you remember what all was done with the engine and exhaust? Love the sound of it.

You need to spend twice the purchase amount on this car to make it fast and reliable. Back in 1966 you needed to spend 2,000 pounds on a 650-pound car. You needed to fit: -straight-cut, close ration gearbox (stripped 1st at the traffic lights) -heavy duty clutch -Up-rated front shock absorbers with larger mounting bolts -Rear lever shockers need to be changed to telescopic -Siamese fuel pump with fuel line inside (needed larger fuel tank) -Wheel studs snap -Overheating issues -Head gasket issues (leading to 1293 cc conversion) -Alternator -Competition brake pads/linings (rear drums are a joke) -Hard top -Laminated screen And this is before you tune the engine to 1293 cc with a weber carb No wonder the British auto industry disappeared, and good riddance. This has been modified, just listen to the boosted waste gate. May be the reason the headgasket is blown. But nice car otherwise.

Great video. My favourite car!!! To this day I've never driven a better car, drove from London to Newcastle in one and have never enjoyed driving so much since. Planted at high speed, mind you mine had dolomite sprint wheels which are wider and had twin weber carbs. Power to weight ratio; hard to beat. So light you could push start her solo no problem..

Brakes seem spongy and you have the same trouble getting into first gear that I had with my '64. I had to be careful because reverse was to the left of first gear and if you weren't careful, you could go backwards when you wanted to go forward. I can't remember how the brakes were on my Spitty but I don't recall any trouble so they must've been o.k. I don't remember if they were disc but probably drum.

I bought one EXACTLY like this one in Muncie, Indiana when I was 19 years old. Drove her just one month, got my draft notice and had to sell her quickly before reporting for the army. Purchased for $2500 ... sold wholesale for $1750. I've held this against the U. S. Draft board ever since ☹️
