Oil Painting with Robert Mee
On this channel I will deliver easy to follow tutorials, using loose brush marks and creating art that has realism with a painterly look to it. We will do Master studies of Artists who left us incredible work to learn from and make it our own.

Rob, a few days ago I watched you paint this stunning impressionist painting! I love it! Once you get started I see how you make those dark tones come alive, whereas before I saw only dark. You’re amazing! Thankyou for inspiring all of us who admire your work! God bless you friend. Yes I feel, as do we all, that you are not just our teacher but our friend! Looking forward to more from you & to breaking out of being in an art slump. ♥️😊
It it ok if we paint that photo?
That is beautiful! I have to learn to get over the up close mess and see from a distance. It does not bother me when looking at the work of other people. But when I do it I judge myself harshly. Thank you.
It would be lovely to see how you clean your brushes after each session and how to you preserve them when not in use. Mine get stiff
Looking forward to watching this but was just wondering. You mentioned you don’t use winton anymore. Do you find a big difference. I still have a lot of winton.
I thought you went from dark to light normally with oils.
That is just one way of thinking. I have always been willing to experiment, and do whatever works!
Robert does not paint in that order. I have seen some others who do.
@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee I do it in acrylics but allways look over my shoulder....., It just vindicates me lol. Thanks.
@@PaintingandExercise Cheers.
Interesting approach, using a laminated picture to check color values before applyiing to the painting! I like the 'painterly' affect you've created !
Thanks for watching and commenting. It works well, also just holding up the brush gets you close.
So beautiful and useful to learn, thanks.😊
My pleasure 😊
Bonjour Cher Robert Mee ! Cordialement. Jean-Louis Maître
Thank you. You are very kind 😀
I've learned so much about correct values from your tutorials. Thanks for sharing your expertise and the beautiful paintings you creats.
I am glad you are having success. Thanks for your feedback 😀
Love it! I'm not sure if you do portraits, but I would love to see how you approach those! Thanks again for another great tutorial.
I've done a couple 😀 I added a short figure study on Patreon this week.
🎉
Thanks 😊
Beautiful ! A good demonstration of how to go about painting such a complicated scene!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for showing such a great demonstration. Do you think that using a tablet monitor with through your values off too much.
Once you have trained your eye you could use a tablet etc. Just don't expect to be able to match the intensity of colours as the monitor/tablet is back lit with electricity. Your paint and canvas is not!
That's fantastic! Amazing light❤
Thanks. I appreciate your feedback 😊
I would love to paint something like this in oil
I am sure you can or will in the future 😉
Watching the replay thank you!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Cher Robert Mee !
Very nice sir ❤

Hi Robert, you have one of the best upvote-downvote-ratios on KZread. Youre account will become bigger! Thanks for your sharing. :)
Not sure I understand your comment, I get my fair share of negativity.....but I just delete and block! On to the next painting 😀
@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee "Fair share of negativity" :D:D:D There are 1142 upvotes and only 4 downvotes (Thumbs down). (ahhh maybe I have an addon. So most people can not see the downvotes)
I see. Yes I can see the thumbs down in YT analytics....which I ignore 😂@steffens.1734 @@steffens.1734
I’m trying a very different scene and using acrylics and working from an image in my head, but following a similar loose approach starting with a rough sketch in pencil. I like that acrylic can be very like water colour and initially fill the shapes like that. Next stage the paint is a bit thicker, give the shapes more depth. Finally undiluted acrylic for detail effects, pretty thick so it doesn’t dry to quick and because I like the feel of the bumps. Robert inspires here not so much because of techniques or I could paint so well, but because painting is an adventure and anything is possible. Agree with attitude towards AI. It’s just a tool, can be very useful, but excessive hype both negative and positive. Reference images for current painting isn’t the spirit, but some bits, eg roofs, I have problems with so use copilot to generate images of roofs.
Good luck in your journey and thanks for sharing 👍
Es una maravilla k estas haciendooo.🤗🥰
