    Great looking pies. Do you find the stones get too hot with the door on? I just started using mine a couple months ago and find the heat just getting out of control. Also, is your heat up all the way? You are right on about the gloves. For the price they should be Heat Proof, the one door needs a handle. Any guidance would be great!!!

  • @hybryd83
    @hybryd834 жыл бұрын

    Hi! Thanks! Yes that was the issue for me, the stones and air were too hot. No the button on the burner was set around midway, but this was still too hot. Since then I tried again with the pizza door on and I think I find the sweet spot. After the ignition I turn up the heat for the max setting, and I let it warm up for 15 minutes. The stones are around 400-430 °C this time. I lower the button all the way down, and remove the top hatch. I start to increase the heat again, but this time very slowly. I try to position the flames to that spot where they no longer burn through the hole of the hatch. Then I place the top hatch back. This time the cooking time is around 2 minutes, but if you increase the heat further a little bit you can decrease the time to around 90 secs. I use 30mbar gas burner so maybe it will be slightly different with your burner.

    The gas attachment works better (cooks faster) if you dont leave the door off. You should place the pizza door on (with the smaller opening) which helps retain the heat. You get a better charring on the crust.

  • @hybryd83
    @hybryd834 жыл бұрын

    The door is left off by purpose. I found the door opening way too small. I tend to stretch the dough larger and way more convenient to place in and take out the pizzas with the door off. During the first bakes I tried to take off/on the pizza door but it is a little bit cumbersome to move wearing the gloves. Not to mention the door gets very hot in no time and the supplied gloves are not superior from this point of view. This door really needs a handle/grip like the other door, I hope Ooni will modify it in the future.

  • @hybryd83

    It's simply discharges the battery and after this recharges it. The Ni-Mh batteries have this memory effect if they are repeatedly charged without a complete discharge. This refresh procedure can eliminate this effect. I don't have these type of batteries anymore, so I cannot measure.

    This might be a stupid question but I don’t really know much about film cameras. Can you change the iso from the camera even if you put a portra 400 or any other film? Or if you put a portra 400 you have to keep it at 400 in the camera the whole time?

  • @hybryd83
    @hybryd835 жыл бұрын

    In short: yes you can. But you have to understand it's different to digital because to push (raising the ISO) or pull (lowering the ISO) a roll of film you have to be consistent for the entire roll. If we break it down the push means you will underexpose that roll one or two or whatever stops you want. And during the developing the development times will be extended. The pull is the exact opposite, you'll overexpose that roll, and develop for shortened times. For B&W negatives it's fairly straightforward, you can find a lot of information on the internet ( digitaltruth.com is a very reliable site). For C-41 negatives (like Portra) and E-6 the slides it is a little bit different. At box speed every C-41 rolls have the same development times regardless of brand and sensitivity. This is why a lot of c-41 rolls can be processed at the same time with automated machines. But the same rule applies here as well, if the development time is extended you can achieve good results with constantly underexposed roll. I strongly recommend find a lab who offers push/pull development (most of them will) and tell them how did you shot your film, and what would you like to achieve.

  • @belaboured
    @belaboured4 жыл бұрын

    It will automatically read the ISO, but then you can change the setting manually.

  • @PaulRentz
    @PaulRentz4 жыл бұрын

    @@belaboured Exactly- I would always shoot Fuji 400 at 320- and similar adjustments for color negative film. Why? Almost all color print film had a single under but two over exposure latitude range- in other words, the manufacturer's stated range for exposures that will produce acceptable results. So you were shooting off center of the 'bullseye' of the best exposure so I'd 'reset' the aim to the middle of the target.
