    Do you know what the name of the resistor is? The wattage and Ohmage? I am trying to get a replacement one and any information will help

  • @damo690
    @damo69013 сағат бұрын

    @glowingtrees I only know it's a ceramic capacitor. But in most cases it's usually not blown it just requires re soldering on the bottom. Do be careful if opening an amp (just in case you don't know) capacitors can store a lot of power and if you don't drain the power from it before touching anything, you could get a nasty shock that in cases of tube amps especially could even kill you even if it's not plugged in anymore.

    Spoke to Doug, he said that the forks are usually very easy to strip, and to keep the springs in them to help with separation. Also, don't worry about the air bit, as it was really wasted on such small forks, and tends to pop seals, although the recommended pressure is only 2-5 psi, and in any case virtually impossible to measure accurately. Just treat them as non-air forks.

    I bought one of these amps to repair it and not got around to it yet ,but a good fix for floating parts such as those big ceramic power resistors would be to squirt some electrical grade silicone under it to act as a shock absorber,i would not use hot melt glue,the silicone is used to hold and absorb shock on large electolytics axial and radial,no one likes to repair cracked pcb tracks,especially on modern SS amps that are a pain in the arse to access.

If it goes green there then the GPS chip is probably OK. I found mine just refused to go green in built up areas most of the time. Just a thought, but it might be worth considering a 150 barrel and piston. I have them on mine, and they do improve midrange power. I know I'm way behind the curve, but an engine that's not in the bike would be a lot easier to convert. An idea for the future, perhaps. You don't have to modify anything else if you stick to 150cc.

  • @damo690

    I definitely considered doing that, especially because I have a spare engine which I still have to open again and change the gearing system on. I just have to figure out the jetting if I do that. I originally was in search of a Honda cg125 1979 model because that model means a lot to me. My Dad had one for all my childhood and wasn't very mechanical minded. He never really looked after it. But I remember just how loyal that little bike was to him. Eventually towards the end of my Dad's career it became very hard to start and the kick-start spring broke. My brother and himself decided to strip it down and restore it and everything was completed ready to reassemble but it then lay fir over 25 years. I loved that bike and had so many good memories with it. I was going to take it from my uncle but before I could do that my brother took it and its still in pieces. I was so devastated. Of everything my family has, land, farm, house that ge could give me, all I wanted was that bike because it means so much to me. I said nothing and swallowed heart and decided I'd find one exactly the same some day. I was glad that happened in a way, because it opened a whole world to me I was never familiar with ( the world of learning and restoration). I prepared myself for how I would restore this bike, I learned every scenario from both very old engineers in my locality (Who were apsolute geniuses and very competen tengineers. I could tell you so many stories of how steam engines were found in a ditch snd were got running in the same day. Sadly those people are now gone, but not without passing on some knowledge. I was a good student. I don't understand everything but I try. Anyway, it was by chance when I was looking for a cg125 of my Dad's era that I came across this sorry piece of history. The engineers similar to Dad's so I bought it not knowing how rare it was. I've been on a journey to restore it from that day forward. It is going to happen soon but its been a long time in the making. I'll be proud to be the only owner that I know of in Ireland of a Hinda cb125 RS.
