Thanks for documenting this. Amazing that Dr John shared so much history and truly authentic insights. No shinola on him ever! Love his realism and breaking things down and explaining the musical styles and feelings behind them. What a gem he was. Loved his music from the first time I heard him in early 1970s

Same guitar model sound so different depending of the guitar player, in piano is more dificult to find, a diferent sound in the same piano, but people like Dr John, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarret or Thelonious Monk, to name few, they have original sound which is very dificult to get in the same instrument..

I’ve been learning 2-10 without knowing it. First person I’ve heard in over 40 years stating this so well. I have limited ability regarding notes, but I’ve always leaned on the 2-10 as my notes ability grows with the other bits. This way of thinking has helped my ability to improvise and interact freely with whoever I may being playing with. Thanks for posting this. Surprised not a huge number of views/likes.

What he’s saying is true, we all can do all of it. Anything any other player can do, we can do too. Keep playing and the natural progression will happen. I saw players in their 30s doing stuff I wanted to do in my 20s. Well I found my self naturally doing those same things as I got closer to my 30s. He’s right, notes are just a small part, you’ll play all the notes you want to eventually just keep playing, it is a language and you’ll speak it better over time

This CD is INCREDIBLE!!! Nathan East is one of the most versatile, skilled, accomplished, and in-demand bassists with one of the best tones on the planet!!! More importantly, he's one of the most humble people on the planet and is full of joy!!! It's amazing what happens when world-class musicians get together to create musical magic! May the late great stellar drummer Ricky Lawson rest in the greatest peace.

Audio and video are not synchronized, it is practically useless to watch an instructional video where you see the drumstick touching the head of the Drum while the sound arrives before! It's really annoying! I recommend synchronizing the images with the sound and re-uploading the video on KZread to make it usable, because this video has an exceptional value not only technically but also as historically document and the absence of synchronism does not do justice to that Monument of musician that is the Maestro Tom Brechtlein.
