This is the best way to do torch not the scab way by walking on your cap sheet or your field sheet while torching. This is way better than displacement, this is what you will learn in the Union. This is not what you learn from a non-union shop. Which is what we call a SCAB roofer….. Go United Brothers of Roofers & Waterproofers Local 54 Seattle WA.

i would only try and get cap on as little of the metal as possible. bringing it up the sides on the outside like that will create potential leak areas in the future. stop the cap right before the downspout and leave the rest as metal. the rest you did perfect.the MS detail will help but it may be hard to get it all over it properly and technically you would still need to drap jute over the rim of the metal because you brought the cap up to match the shape of the metal on the outside. , which you wouldnt do because it would look bad. im also surprised you heat it up before sticking it in, ive never seen that but whatever works, those scupper are a bitch to do. I think dry laying it would still work too. Just lay it in and try and torch one side at a time. JUst need to lift it and blast on one side then stick your hand in and press itdown hard to one side and in the 90s(primed metal of course). then once it cools a bit lift other side and blast it, if you dont run your cap as far it will be easier too. but good work overall you seem good at your job.

i saw the iko hoodie but is that soprema or Iko cap? i've never tried the sponge, i gotta try it though it seems like a good idea. I see lots of guys just use the puller but i sometimes use a rubber roller to push out bleeds and it seems to work pretty good too. great job though looks pretty good.

He even has the Proper self made torch stand with a bolt, a chain link and 2 pieces of aluminum bent just right. I use to make these for all of my Roofer buddies and I would sell them for $10 each. They would last a lot longer than the flimsy pieces of thin brass stands. I also made torch Canes, very easy to make.

i bet it's stuck but are you sure you are applying enough heat throughout the enire roll and not just the lap? seems a little quick. try preheating the lap a few feet behind you as well it may give a slightly more pronounced bleed out.
