  Merle had a very strong musical gene that he passed down. All his boys can sing. Ben is the most talented in my opinion.

  This is a simple song, but it must be sung with a commanding presence, and the type of conviction that captures even the drunkest ears in the room…it’ll reduce the chatter and caterwauling at the bar into silence. :)

  I watched a interview where Merle Haggard told that he wrote Today I started loving you again for Bonnie Owen's. He said they had been touring and was back at hotel AND wrote the song because while on tour all his old feelings for Bonnie surfaced. I heard this from Merle. Now his son is telling something different Merle told him about the song N

  What Your Saying is Mostly true. They was at Airport after many days of touring. Both were Very tired. He looked at Her & said part of this song to Her. They got to Hotel. He sent Her for Burgers. When She got back He couldn't find paper but wrote Song on brown paper bag. It was in one of His Books. He gave Bonnie 1/2 Credit for helping to write the Song. Then on a Talk Show He was telling this part & how when They Divorced She got another %, so He wasn't left much of the Song that HE Wrote. Wow.

  I think Marty would have gone pretty far in his music, if he hadn't had the health issues and bad turns.....he is really wonderful, I love his "Bridges" album,,,he is probably the most vocally talented of his sons. Ben has the edge on all of them on the guitar! But, if Ben would break away and go out on his own, he has a real shot!

  All 4 of Mr Merle Haggard's Sons Sings Good. They have Their Own Pick of Songs. Different Singing Styles. But Noel Lee is Our Favorite and Ben. Mr Marty talks too much sometimes. LOL.

  I grew up on Merle Haggard, he was my Dad's favorite! I used to put records on the player and sit out on the back porch and sings with my Dad! Mama was cooking dinner while we sang!
