    Well about 7000 miles after my totally rebuilding my '02 and doing mods and upping to stage 1.5 I have a leak here. Thankfully all else is proving good. My biggest worry was the damn oil pan. I prepped the surfaces well though and it doesn't have a single leak....YAY! Funny, after having done that entire rebuild job by myself, how much I'm dreading doing this front main seal even as easy a fix as it is. The rebuild kinda burned me out I think. I started on it and pushed every day until I was done.

    I just finished a 6.4 build, when doing the initial startup the engine sounded 180 out. We just removed the engine to see that it was in time. I'm currently rebuilding a 6.4L. I've been told by several people that the 6.4l is the most expensive to rebuild. May I ask how much it would cost to do a full rebuild? Machining around here is $200-$1000, depending on the severity. I will assume that the cylinders will be needing a bore so a .20thousandths bore will most likely be the case. Could you price out how much that would cost with all the Rods, pistons, bearings, gaskets and seals, and I was also told that the fuel system lines will need to be replaced. is that true as well?

  • @redneckcustoms5919
    @redneckcustoms59199 ай бұрын

    It all depends on what you want done to the motor and what the current prices of parts are. The high pressure fuel injection lines from the high pressure pump to the rail and from the rail to the injectors are torque to yield meaning they cannot be re-used

    I linda lije 'em. In a way the lesser powered 250 or 300 wouldn't have counterbalancer (correct?) or water pump so less parts to fail. A few hop up parts help wake it up.

    What was the purpose of finding out the oil clearance measurements? As in what does the value tell you, do you change your oil weight you pick or get different bearing race sizes? Thanks

  • @fireflyraven2760
    @fireflyraven276010 ай бұрын

    I had saw a guy do that with a 6.7 Cummins s long block he said measuring the clearance was to determine how much oil can make it's way in to the cam housing since it spins it has to have some sort of lubricants

    I have a 98 250 that idled super high after a new carb was put on, we got 2 new carbs that ended up not working and a throttle cable that claimed to be for my machine but was too long. So we got a carb rebuild kit for the old one I got water in, rebuilt it now the thing has to stay full throttle to barley idle it was running fine again for awhile but we could never find it's happy place with the air fuel it would always still bog when given half or more sometimes less. I figured the carb rebuild would solve that but I guess not still have yet to mess with it more.
