I strictly spey fish salt water surf, i can't do any traditional techniques. Have to use the double haul without hauling with the hands, i can send out 100' and flip a heavy fly pretty much anywhere i want, and i was surprised how accurate i have become. And i cant fish all day as whit my single handed im done after 1hr because my shoulders are done fighting the louisiana cost winds.

29:35 The torpedo line is a 1950's line, not 1800's. The English didn’t use 12’ rods and short/fat lines in the 1800s. This is completely wrong and nobody ever wrote that.

I so thoroughly enjoyed this. Deeply insightful. I fished the Sacramento River yesterday after rainbows. My only catch was a Sacramento Pike minnow. They literally stink and don't fight all that well (though this dude barely fit in my net and gave me a moment of thinking I had a great fish). But I got to stand in the water waving my magic wandoo (SF Giants fans will get the reference). So that, coupled with this film's inspiration has me chomping at the bit for next time. It's always informed by last time but inspired by next time. There's my reflection on fly fishing culture!
