  Remember that General Yamashita was assassinated. I won't use the exact term of "executed" because it is too obvious that the crimes he was charged of was not his orders and just an excuse of the allies to kill a japanese general that defeated them : americans and britishs just couldn't support the idea of an asian general defeating them on fair battles. Like many german generals that was executed while having nothing to do with nazi exterminations, executed just because they defeated the allies once or multiple times, but thanks god some were spared because they was very clean. The executes generals may have unjustified blood on their hand but remeber that no one can control anyone under his autority...could a general stop some guys 500km far from him from shooting some prissoners or civilians ?! of course not, but they should have tried their best to prevent this to happen. While the Allies war-crimes are commonly not considered as "real" war-crimes because "they are the good side"...moral and jealousy in war are both a damn bane.
