I've known a few sporting heros who've let themself go as they got older but they always have some residual strength and none were too pleased about it as ambassadors for their sport. What this guy is showing is that kung fu gives you a state of fitness where you probably can't walk up the stairs without stopping.

4:50 this is one thing they all get wrong "the elbow is closer so it will arrive first" the elbow, can't go in a straight line, because your upper arm rotates from your shoulder, that's all your arms do is rotate, if your elbow is straight, any angle you rotate your upper arm will bring your wrist and elbow in line at the same time, if you flex your bicep at the same time as you rotate your arm up, your wrist will get to shoulder level before your elbow, turn your arm inward and do the same combination your wrist will get to in front of you before your elbow.

The American interviewer should have done some research before attempting this interview. Wong Sifu was an outstanding representative of Ip’s school. He was one of only a handful who has been recognised as passing the effectiveness of this system on the the next generations of Wing Chun. I could only watch the first few minutes until I could sense his frustration with the American gentleman. Thanks for sharing. It’s still very interesting listening to him articulate.

@@eddieg3536 my sincere apology. Initially I only listened to the first part of the interview where Wong sifu was asked about challenging Chu Shong Tin. I knew this wasn’t true. They had great admiration for each other in the following decades & jointly accepted challenges from other schools. Thanks again 🙏
