Can you swap from standard automatic mode into manual whilst already travelling at speed? I assume you can and itll put you in the recommended gear manually?
Thx so much for this Hun 😉
as a 18 yr old driving and car enthusiast who's gonna be studying mechE in college- i thank you !!
Brilliant Explanation Sir!
I have learned with my infiniti it’s just easier to change gears at 2000rpm and let the automatic downshift while breaking do its thing. I will only manually downshift in very certain situations. It is very satisfying to manually shift up but it’s probably less fuel efficient than letting the computer take over in automatic.
So downshifting also makes you go faster?
It can do in certain situations, for example overtaking someone. By dropping a gear, it gives the engine access to more revs to boost acceleration.
thought me everything I was missing , greatly appreciate the detail bro, love!
Looking for another taco I have a 22 trd or
what i was looking for was how to accelerate faster from a stop using manual mode by switching gears faster, but you're saying lower gears are better for acceleration
Genuine question do you have to down shift when slowing down
watch the videos no
cant wait to get my wrangler TJ out there
So does the car not actually have ambient lighting.?
Always shift @ peak tq and when it shifts it should be good 1-3/4 gears or so on for maximum performance only
Vide starts @2:05
My only concern with the Hooke is that it's steel and I'm buying this rack for a saltwater kayak..

16:20 so relatable maaan
"back and forth" we all do it lol
Hey did it start without the tune? Also what were the issues you guys mentioned in the beginning? I’m doing this swap rn and having some problems.
If I remember correctly, the engine that was swapped in initially already had compression issues. I believe it did start but was not running the right way. The issues stemmed from the motor itself, also we tried our best as a group that really has never done a swap before so there was lack of experience which could have caused some unknown issues. I might have been better for us, if we took it to a shop to get it done.
Can i do this on a Prado txl 2016?
Yes, if you have the (+) and (-) symbols on the gear selctor, you can select your own gears
That youtube money kicked in😅
Koenigsegg Jesko is next, 9 years.....lol
Cool ima give this a shot
I hate the waiting for the downshift, My car goes 1 2 3 D, say I shift it down to 3 to floor it, I then put it into D as soon as I floor it so that way I don’t cap out in 3rd gear and can keep going? What if I want to put it into 2 to do this, I have to pass 3 going from 2nd to D, like not one video or forum or quora or Reddit feed on the whole internet answer this
To make sure I understand, the gear selector goes Park, Reverse, Neutral, D, 3, 2,1? Do you mind posting the car detials, I can take a look. If you are in 3rd and floor it, the car may shift for you once you approch redline in the rpms. Depends on the car really. However, if you shift it into D once it hits redline to make the shift and assuming your car has more than just a 3 speed transmission, then yes, that makes sense to do so. That way D can take on the next gear lets say 4th adn 5th because you can't choose those on your own. If you are in 2nd gear, you would go to 3rd gear once it reaches redline, and then to D as you accelerate. If you are in D and want to downshift to 2nd gear, yes, you would have to pass 3rd gear and go into 2nd or 1st. This sounds like an older auto tranmission and usually these gear were there for you to select so you could get more acceleration or torque depending on your siutation. It was not made for shifting through gears as you described from what I am assuming.
@@TheF90Crew thank you for the reply, I drive a 2009 mustang gtcs it has a 5speed auto, your comment is correct about from park to drive I have the whole 9 yards done even a $1,000 dyno with the cams and I get smoked sitting there waiting for my car to kick down into gear every time 😂
Best of luck and happiness with your new wheel. I still have your cardinal red 2021. They had the limited edition at Catena, they called me. Let us see more of the car.
Much appreciated sir. Nice glad to hear! Hoping I run into you one day if its in NJ somewhere. Planning to do a few videos, including an overview.
Do you let off the gas when down shifting
No need. You can keep your foot on the gas with modern automatics and shift.
you can shift while on the gas?
Yes, you can be on the gas 100% and shift with these automatics. The car controls the clutch engagement for you.
Great review, thanks so much! Subscribed :)
Awesome, thank you! Glad you liked the video!
Hold the wheel.
I don't know how.....will you teach me?
You are a very excellent teacher! Great video!
Much appreciated!
Just get a manual car
But I like this too though.....
Just bought my very first car ever. 2006 Subaru Legacy B4 Sport JDM. Can't wait to drive her around like this. Thanks for the quick and easy to understand video!
You got it and thanks for watching! That'll be a fun car to try this out in!
Great video.
Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
How do u know when to down shift if I were at like 4th gear going 50 or 5th gear? Do u always downshift at a certain rpm? I just got my s5 and still learning how to drive manual
You downshift when slowing down or when you want to accelerate. If you are crusing in 5th gear and want to pass someone, you realize that giving the car some gas in 5th gear the car doesn't accelerate as fast as 3rd at 50 mph. Think of it as, the more rpms the more horsepower the car makes. So, cruising at 50 mph you don't need to be in a lower gear becasue those rpms are not needed. If you need to pass someone, you might need better accelerating and downshifting to 3rd gear for example, will put you in higher rpms, allowing you to pass faster. The s5 is a good car and depending on the gneration (B8 supercharger or b9 turbocharger) you enough power to pass people modestly in almost an gear.
@@TheF90Crew okay now makes sense. Would it hurt the engine or the car if I were to for example be in 5th gear at 50mph and drop all the down to 3rd gear still at 50 mph tho?
You answered all my questions that were always in my mind preventing me from trying.. thank you so much! Really appreciate it !!
I'm glad the video helped! Just have to practice a little bit everday and it'll get really easy. Have fun and thanks for watching
I watched like 5 other videos about how to use paddle shifters and they all confused the hell out of me, as they don't really show a live example of what they are talking about. But this one video literally taught me how to drive confidently using paddle shifters! Currently having tons of fun driving my 2014 Mazda Miata
There you go, I'm happy it worked out because it makes driving that much more fun. Thanks for watching!
It funny I find it easier to drive a traditional stick shift than an automatic with manual shifters. With a manual I can somehow "feel" the revs and intuitively shift. Also, I can downshift to the exact gear I want without taking my eyes off the road.
It works out similar for me here, just the sound of where the revss are is enough, same with throttle input. I can tell when I'm in the wrong gear I most times don'teven look at what gear I'm in. Although a clutch gives you more control. Assuming you have been driving manual for a while?
@@TheF90Crew Yes Sir, been driving stick for 20 years. Got my first automatic this year, a 45 TFSI A4. Love all the new tech and the response, but still miss the third pedal and a slick stick at times!
I suppose to receive my car November 17, 2023.....it looks exactly the same as yours....black exterior and black interior 🤔 I purchased mine from Carvana and it has 61,983.....I have a 36 month warranty on it for anything electrical or mechanical
Maybe but, I don't think I had close to that mileage when I taded it in. Would have been cool though, its a great car!
How many miles did you had on yours?
my brother in christ you were turning the light bar on instead of the ditch lights, maybe you got your wiring mixed up
You and doors I have a 04 350z shin shocker. Yes a place place for a spare a jack and Styrofoam a place where one would go . My z full sized spare, but no jack . Makes no sense in either lol
These are truly confusing times......
If I get nervous and want to change back to automatic can I just do it? Or will the car lurk and stuff trying to put the gear where it wants it.
You can do it whenever. The car will eventually put the gear where it wants to. For example, if you are going 40 mph on 2nd gear which is quite high RPM wise and switch to auto, the car will start upshifting through the gears until it gets to a gear its comfortable with. Unless you have a sport mode, the car may hold the gear you are in while switching to auto
Just got a 2013 sonata and while I’ve previously driven an ml350 with a manual mode I’ve just never had the balls to try it out on a car like that. I pretty much had some of this figured out but what rpm to shift at and what rpm to downshift at were my biggest issues lmao thank you for the tutorial
You got it, I'm glad it was helpful. While there are many levels of cars, they pretty much follow this video as far as manual mode goes. So, if you ever find yourself in something more than a ml350, you are covered.
Hey man , I was wondering are these the normal flood lights or the work flood lights , there are two different kinds on Amazon from auxbeam
I'm obsessed with this car currently, I've been looking for a more detailed, descriptive video, and this one helped. You've fed my hunger for information about this car and I am forever grateful. Don't know if I could get it one day, but won't stop my curiosity and drive to own one
Its a cool car for sure. Never got to drive it unfortunately. I got a ride in the previous generation rs7 and that started the whole passion for this, the m5, and e63. I'm glad it was helpful, I shied away from the more detailed videos as they most times take a while to make but I always hoped someone would want all the details possible. Thanks for watching!
2009 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Ik Ik it is an oldy but I’m currently sitting in a parking lot trying to practice can you give me a basic on when I should switch gears like 10-20 mph 1 st gear 20-40 mph in 2nd and so forth
Basics: I would look at your rpms rather than speed for now. Shift up around 3 k rpms. When you are driving around town, 2nd gear should be enough for the most part. Meaning, if you are starting off in first gear, accelerate a little bit and it may be around 10 mph and upshift then. I usually do majority of my shifting around 2.5 - 3 k rpms.
Great video. From the 10 minute mark to the 13 minute mark for someone who is just learning, is the most valuable part of this entire video in my opinion. Liked subscribed and commented 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Glad it was helpful, hopefully everyone can enjoy their car that much more! I appreciate the support, thank you!
pretty sure I ran against one of these or the newer one from a 15 mph roll in a stock c5 z06 and got him by about 2 cars up to top of 3rd (100mph), thought for sure I'd lose starting in first gear but my brand new tires didn't let me down so I was able to rip through 1st without any spin and he obviously started falling off as speeds got higher but good race though! Was similar to a race I had against a newer c43 mercedes.
Hard to beat a rwd car from a roll when it hooks, especially a c5 z06. Personally, I always thought the c6 Z06 with that 7L was insane. This and the c43 Mercedes compete at the same level, similar performance. I will says its not a visceral car but essentially a great luxury car which has decent power.
I just got a MINI John Cooper Sport and wondered how the paddles on the steering wheel worked. I learned to drive in a stick shift, so this new knowledge is very exciting. I can't wait to try this out!
Good stuff! I'm glad the video helped!
Personally I was a little nervous (afraid to break something) 😂so I get why he said that. However I had already had my MCL for years and it's not quite exactly the same, but for me it was pretty much the same for the bike and car I used. In fact it seemed as the bike shifting I was doing was even a bit better.
There's always nerves trying something new. Just need some support and practice!
Why is it the bigger the head unit screen in these cars the better they look inside?
whats normal operating temp and the safe range for temp??
I'm not exactly sure but oil temp is probably 200 - 230 F range if I had to assume
@@TheF90Crew thanks, i been doing "normal driving" and im hitting somewhere around 204-208 then when i decide to give it little juice, just little it goes to 210-215. highest ive seen it go with 30 mins of kinda harsh driving was 222 but the bar was still at the middle of the guage so ig thats good right?
