    This does the job. I've used a Click-Stand on my Troll for a couple of years. Works ok, but your bike can still get knocked over if it's bumped. Tried a kickstand on the chainstay, but my heel hits the kickstand when I pedal. I've looked at these adapters for a few years, but I felt the price was too steep. Well, I finally pulled the plug, Wish I would have purchaed them years ago. Used the adapters to install a Pletscher ESGE kickstand. Easy to install by putting the Troll on my stand and removing the rear wheel. Works perfectly!

    What's your opinion of the duo rack? How much weight do you think they could handle?

  • @craigrmeyer

    I loaded my Duo racks DOWN with small-size panniers absolutely chock-a-block FULL of crap. Tools and spare parts, paperwork, hunks and bits of metal. Not one problem ever. I imagine I'd bend my fork first (which fortunately didn't happen).

    This is an ingenious solution! I bought the adapters and installed a kickstand on my wife's Ogre. The adapters seem sturdy and finely machined (printed). However, I faced 2 issues. The first is that the back edge of the kickstand mount overlapped where the quick-release acorn nut needs to sit to allow full insertion of the rear wheel. So I cut a bit off a corner of the kickstand mount to fix that issue. The second issue is that a 30mm screw was too long so I bought 25mm and they work fine.

  • @craigrmeyer
    @craigrmeyer6 ай бұрын

    I recently got a look at a Bridge Club, and I don't see the Rohloff slot or an easy place to put a normal kickstand. There are other options that mount/clamp onto the frame in funny places, but the bike shop guys won't know about them. Here we go. This will get you where you need to go: www.cyclingabout.com/best-kickstands-for-bicycle-touring/

    @craigrmeyer someone did a 3D printed insert that goes into the odd shaped frame hole in front of the rear drop out for their surly troll...it's the same hole on the BC.

  • @stevemullin1195
    @stevemullin11956 ай бұрын

    @craigrmeyer yes that's the hole. Now whether a kickstand mounted in that position will be able to hold up a fully loaded BC is another matter. I know the click stand poles have a version for heavy touring bikes...thing of that if this velo orange Copenhagen double kickstand doesn't work when I try mounting it between wheel and seat post.

    Very cool video! I first saw one of those while in Nyaungshwe, a city at the north end of Inle Lake in Myanmar’s eastern Shan State back in January of 2002. The low open bed trailer it was pulling was carrying some of the local residents, and I was very intrigued. I would see one again in Cambodia (March 2009) and am sure I will see more when I travel to Laos next month. Thanks for posting.

    Well let me tell you man, they're NOT rare if you're out in the right places. They're still big all over SE Asia, the poorer the better. Also, in Laos, look for these funky trucks that use the same single-cylinder engine. Those pungadda-pungadda diesels are a standby over there.

  • @craigrmeyer

    I wouldn't call it a "shortcoming". Just a design decision on their part. For one, kickstands are for not-cool people, and also because it (maybe) forces the chainstays to be a little longer than they would otherwise need to be.

  • @zawlwon8263

    @@craigrmeyer I got one maybe just as crazy. I am a commercial pilot in the USA doing Forest fire suppression during the summer and in the winter living in Thailand for 8 months every year for the last 15 years. Thailand has been my home and the USA has just been summer vacation but i got stuck in Thailand when it closed for covid and i tried to fly out like i always do to renew my visa but after i purchased my ticket online March 14 and went to the Airport they said i could not board the plane because everything just closed that morning. I told them my visa expires in a few days and they said that i would be ok to stay. Visa amnesty was March 26 and my visa expired March 16. I received a letter from my Embassy to give Thai Immigration but months later i was stopped and checked and that letter was in my condo. So they got me on a 10 day overstay from March 16 to 26 even though i was not allowed to board the plane prior to my visa expired and they said it would be fine. The judge in court just gave me a warning and a 2000 baht fine which i paid but later back at the police department the police took that paper work and ripped it up asked me for 60k baht then didnt report it to my embassy . Thai Immigration in Bangkok said they would have not done that to me . I will try and fix this at the end of this summers work but i might be staying in Cambodia instead. sorry this is long but nice to share the story.
