I think Lulu is the album that put Metallica on the right track, they are just enjoying playing. WIthout that we wouldn't have 72 Seasons and Hardwired, Death Magnetic was another stressful process for them. I really enjoy this album and liked a lot when it came out.

This album to me is what a collaboration should be like. For me it brings out new things out of both parties. Basically its 1+1 = 3

I'm feeling these performances are more engaging than the album versions. Maybe the songs gelled with practice or with reflection given some time. Maybe the original takes were too off the cuff. But I'm feeling these more and some production or performance issues I felt from the album are vastly mitigated. The songs and the power is coming through here fully.

Been there. Thinking of knowing their catalogue, i was absolutely overwhelmed by all the new and extremely creative stuff they played that day. These guys were sheer energy and it was an insane experience. All this went away when they went to "conquer america" and tried to be deep and meaningfull. Sad and lame band nowerdays.

Look I've been a metallica fan since 1980 give or take. Seen them live twice... There's little they've recorded that I can't at least listen to. And then along came this... for whatever the band does right in this Lou opens his mouth and tears it str8 back down. I think he has the absolute worst voice I've ever heard in any genre. The worst.

lou reed and the velvet had a harsh, almost distressing sound. Metallica has a big sound worthy of the volume war... this group plays velvet and for me it's not great. It's like asking a hard rock band from the 70s to play jazz, it makes you smile.

Hahahaha, you think Lou Reed was bothered by that? The critique this album got was nothing worse than Berlin received like 40 years earlier, which is now considered a masterpiece by most Lou Reed fans. This album will be no difference. Im sure Lou Reed somehow liked this kind of attention because he never strayed away from it. Some how its just perfect that this became his last album.
