    Thanks for your video Patrick, I'm now having to tackle the same task on my T30 Xtrail. Thanks to your video, I'm also going down the method of taking the overall bracket off, and I managed to get at the nightmare bolt with an offset 10mm ring spanner, and I've disconnected the lines and the plug, but how in the blue blazes did you manage to wiggle the bracket out from above the sub-frame and rear drive shaft?

    Hi I know this is a really old video but I'm having this same problem. I bought a pump and wanted to change it myself but I can't tell what type of screws it's held in by, as it's so badly corroded. You wouldn't happen to remember what screws hold it in Thanks in advance

    I'm literally having to do this job right now to my T30 Xtrail. The screws on the pump are so corroded on mine too, I think they're cross-head screws, but no way they're coming out, as the back one is inaccessible. I'm going for Patrick's method of removing the bracket, and I FINALLY managed to get at the nightmare bolt yesterday with an offset ring spanner. They're 10mm bolts holding in the overal bracket. ( I now however can't work out how to wiggle the bracket out).

  • @patcarmax
    @patcarmax8 ай бұрын

    Hi You can buy primer bulbs from euro car parts and tube to make up a siphon just plug it into the diesel feed pipe from the filter to the engine and draw the fuel through that way but !!! check it's not got a electric primer pump in the tank by switching the ignition on for a few seconds to see if it spill's diesel from the tank feed pipe that feeds the filter if it does connect all pipes up and turn ingition on and listening for when the air bubble noises stop in the fuel tank and try starting some times the pump only runs for 15 seconds in this case repeat turning on ingition until no air can be heard going in to the tank 👍

    Hello, Patrick! When wires 2 and 7 are connected, the relay should click? Is there a relay between the switch and the bulb? What are the components in the dipped beam electrical circuit? Could you please explain?

  • @patcarmax
    @patcarmax2 жыл бұрын

    Hi the switch has fuses side panel buy door and as I understand no relay involved so the lights should come on when doing your basic checks the also check your 2 bulbs and connectios 2 fuses check they have 12volts at the fuse in most cases it's the switch but if you still have a problem after bypassing the switch it's normal one of the above hopefully this helps.

  • @augstspriegumshightension
    @augstspriegumshightension2 жыл бұрын

    @@patcarmax Thanks. I'm dealing with a 2005 Volkswagen Caddy, but since the switch and connector looks the same, I think the circuitry might be the same. The operation of the relay is inaudible when the dipped beam and high beam is turned on, although the high beam works. Tomorrow at work I will check again, but it seemed to me that the voltage was coming out of the switch, but it did not appear on the fuses. It was important for me to know your thoughts about the existence of a relay in this circuit. Thank you again

    Both the key operated boot lock and the rear wiper were out on my X Trail T30. I went to the same area and found four (!) of the wires had become frayed or broken. After repairing these connections, both my issues are fixed, so thanks for this video. I unfortunately had to make an incision along the middle section of the rubber tunnel, leaving the grommets intact of course. Those who think that this job can be done without doing so obviously haven't tried it themselves - getting the necessary access required it.

    What a nightmare! Mine is a 2005 2.4i. I managed it eventually thanks to your video and some of the comments. I had a struggle removing the fusebox from the bracket and then had to remove the metal bracket that holds the fusebox and remove the connectors from the top of the fusebox to make room. Tellingly, the bracket was only attached with one of the two nuts and the cover to the filter housing only had one screw securing it so the previous filter change had also been a struggle. At least it made it easier for me. As mebtioned by John Vickers, don't forget to remove the + battery terminal before un plugging the connectors. The Haynes manual was useless and said that you can swing the fusebox to the side without removing the connectors. I don't see how they could have actually tried-out changing the filter. Also no mention of having to remove the metal bracket

    Good video, thanks. My 307 tank was in a different place, but much easier to access. It's probably worth pointing out that the pump continues to push the DPF through, even if you don't reset the dashboard. I had my dash reset at the MOT 2 months after I added the DPF.

    @@gavstar69 Mine's a MY2008 2.0D SELux and I had to remove the connectors from the board. Disconnect the battery positive. All connectors are differently keyed so can't be wrongly reconnected, though if you're unsure, take a photo before you begin just in case. With the board in place, remove the lower ones (large ones have a black "cover" which acts as a lock - hinge it back and it will lever the socket out of the board; smaller ones have a black bar/saddle running across the top from side to side - depress the small socket-coloured tab and then hinge the saddle over it and again it will lever the socket out). Drop the end of the board nearest to you (you may need to help the very thick multicore on the right-hand side as it fouls a support bracket) and it should then pull towards you. You can then detach the upper connectors in the same way. Mine also had a smaller square connector that was a simple depress-tab-and-pull. All this for a "service" item. I bet dealer don't change it often.
