What a beautiful NES composition. Sim City SNES had a true classical / art music feel to it and it’s amazing this was also done for the NES game using the primitive sound chip.

Glad to see people still watching/listening like me 😅 This is still my favorite, as it was the first to come out when i was already into the series (for better/worse, simon's quest was the first one i'd played and gotten). I still remember the anticipation building up and not being disappointed. Frustrated? OMFG yeah... 😂 As a kid pressure was my favorite music, but now older dead beat and demon seed hit hard as such fat heavy beats. Thanks again to who put this together! Another great set are two guys that play these on acoustic guitars: kzread.info/dash/bejne/maNm0dCwaZjbnLw.htmlsi=Y1XZaPEpBHKLZxlC

Despite being near the end of the NES's life cycle, Castlevania III proves that it can go as hard on its soundtrack, as it should rightfully so.

I like how this version of Overture has both the huge chords of the Fami version and the oscillating notes from the more limited NES version. Both together work very satisfyingly.

Man...I think I'm going to have to go with this as the greatest game OST of all time. Chronotrigger is the only competitor imo for the top but I have to give this the slight edge just out of the sheer mastery in composition especially when listening to this version.

I have always long considered that even though the NES soundtrack is technically less robust, because it came a almost a year after the SFC soundtrack, the composer had spent the ensuing 9 months letting the soundtrack run through his head, brainstorming new ideas, and took advantage of the opportunity to actually flesh out the melodies, despite the new limitations. That's what makes this arrangement important. In Overture for example, only the NES version has that moment where the triangle channel adds its own component to the chord progression (e.g. 25:08). That by itself makes the NES version of this BGM superior to the SFC original. So it's nice that we don't need to choose.

The extra layers and power with fullness of sound make this stick out. Especially in Prelude. Even though at first I was unsure of some of the additions not in the original it's grown on me. By the way 5:54 Destiny sounds so good. Edit: This is now the only OST version of C3 I want to listen to. Awesome.

is there a Rom hack that uses this improvements for the music?
@donkeykongisytpooping30028 ай бұрын
That wouldn’t be possible for a rom hack. You would need to make one of those music packs for emulators that support custom audio and sprites.
