I had a new 14' Starcraft in 1961. Cost $265. It had a grey interior and white hull sides. The seats were varnished and look similar to this boat. The boat was rated for a max. 15 hp. in '61.

I have this same boat and was wondering how to redo the whole back hatch as I hate the way it’s setup. This is great inspiration. Was also wondering what new 4 stroke & fish finder to go with. I want to give the boat a bit of a refresh and make it a little more fishing capable.

Beautiful work as always. Your ability to retain the classical elements while chosing materials and colors that makes it look refined and modern is what sets you apart from the other Whaler restorations I see. Thanks for sharing the result and your thoughts around it. Something to be proud of for sure. Both for the owners and the craftman that brought it back to life.

I have a 2000 Northwood Utility 14. They were made by Sylvan. It is a re-badged Smokercraft Voyager. I have read conflicting info that this Starcraft is also a re-badged Voyager. The lines, the hardware, everything looks identical. Very good boats and a great value. These were the lines of most alloy boats from the1950's thru 1970's because they made so much sense as "resorters" for lakes. Lots of interior space with the pronounced forefoot bow (they have chins). They excell as campers for boat-in only sites. The ubiquitous Smokercraft Alaskan series have very different lines - especially entry lines. Foot-for-foot, I much prefer the Voyager hulls for their interior capacity.
