    Thank you. I can’t believe that you teachers in the US spend so much of your own money on ESSENTIALS. As a teacher in the UK, things are getting worse, regarding resourcing. However, most of the thousands of pounds I have spent over the years, has mostly been on EXTRAS for me and my students. Educators, anywhere in the world, should not be expected to spend ANY of their own money, to do their job! 😢

    Thanks for your video. I'm a homeschooling mom of a son with autism. Is there a book, or any resource material you could recommend to help guide me in teaching him important functional skills? I listed a few to work on prior to your video but you brought up so many that I didn't even think about. I also realized that some of the things I'm already doing with him could be considered functional skills, but I wasn't viewing it that way. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Do you write exposure skills in the IEP or is this something you have in your head as you're teaching the lesson? Can you give me an example of an exposure goal, if it's written into the iep?

  • @fullspedahead
    @fullspedahead3 ай бұрын

    IEP goals should be written to mastery for that student. Exposure would be more for what is an essential skill for that student to learn - identifying the numbers in an equation, versus mastery may be to add without a calculator. This will allow you to meet students where they are at.

    Yes!!! I agree that LAMINATING with SPECIAL education is a must because I am always re-using my materials for CONSTANT hands on (I try to attack all learning styles but it does confuse my one Autistic student). Spring Scissors is a “new” one for me which I will be investing. Label making machines are a MUST because it eliminates confusion (I am always, always, always trying to eliminate confusion with my students). 3 hole punch yup! And never thought about getting a binding machine…I like that idea!!! I will be investing in that!! Clearly you love your job as a SPECIAL education teacher Which is half the battle.
