Can you add the links to the websites and KZread pages?
Thank you. I can’t believe that you teachers in the US spend so much of your own money on ESSENTIALS. As a teacher in the UK, things are getting worse, regarding resourcing. However, most of the thousands of pounds I have spent over the years, has mostly been on EXTRAS for me and my students. Educators, anywhere in the world, should not be expected to spend ANY of their own money, to do their job! 😢
Catching the replay!
I love laminating, even though it's so time-consuming. I also love how you have multiple laminator going at the same time! ❤😂
Please I will like to be mentored... Just started my journey here in Nigeria

Glad it was helpful!
Hi…I love your video! Finding a balance between academic and life skills is always tricky. Can you please share the link with the life skills for each grade? Thank you 😊
Sorry for the delay, you can get the link here: bit.ly/FSAemails
as someone who was in special ed (i am an asperger with the "Analyse by observation" skill) i can say you need to learn the key "word" of each of them as well as their favorite relaxing trick.
Thanks for your video. I'm a homeschooling mom of a son with autism. Is there a book, or any resource material you could recommend to help guide me in teaching him important functional skills? I listed a few to work on prior to your video but you brought up so many that I didn't even think about. I also realized that some of the things I'm already doing with him could be considered functional skills, but I wasn't viewing it that way. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hey there! Thank you for the comment. I have a functional skills list that I've put together. Send me an email and I'll give you the list of ideas! [email protected]

Awesome tips! It's my 6th year in self-contained, but there's never an overabundance of ideas and help that I could receive from others. Thank you!
Love that!
Thanks 😊
Welcome 😊
Do you write exposure skills in the IEP or is this something you have in your head as you're teaching the lesson? Can you give me an example of an exposure goal, if it's written into the iep?
IEP goals should be written to mastery for that student. Exposure would be more for what is an essential skill for that student to learn - identifying the numbers in an equation, versus mastery may be to add without a calculator. This will allow you to meet students where they are at.
They rlly do look like this in all my meetings
This is so true...😂😂😂
Do you have middle school specific baseline assessment tools?
not at this time! Thank you for asking!
"teaching is NOT testing. Presume competence. Communication and literacy go hand in hand.” Thanks Kayna and Heather 😊
You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this!
Honored by the shout-out! LOL - you two are the best. I appreciate your work in bringing awareness to the importance of and how to provide shared reading in an evidence-based way.
You're the best! We are so glad to have you on the channel!

Great and helpful video, but please slow down
Thank you for this feedback, you can also change the speed under the gear setting!
Wait your IEPs are 100+ pages?? What am I doing wrong, I wrote my first this week and it was only 9
I'm sure it depends on your IEP system, but yes! There are usually many pages in an IEP
Yes!!! I agree that LAMINATING with SPECIAL education is a must because I am always re-using my materials for CONSTANT hands on (I try to attack all learning styles but it does confuse my one Autistic student). Spring Scissors is a “new” one for me which I will be investing. Label making machines are a MUST because it eliminates confusion (I am always, always, always trying to eliminate confusion with my students). 3 hole punch yup! And never thought about getting a binding machine…I like that idea!!! I will be investing in that!! Clearly you love your job as a SPECIAL education teacher Which is half the battle.
Thank you so much for your comment! Yes, I love what I do every single day!! All of these things I can't live without.
Great info! I can tell you are very genuine.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Love this! I am a firm believer in strong communication with families!
Thank you for watching!
Fabulous content! Thank you! Most schools in my state do not offer a specific transition class/ program. It is essential for our students to be successful!
Thank you for watching! It is hard to believe that some states don't offer transition services!
These tips are essential for having a successful sped classroom with paraprofessionals. ❤
New subscriber here! Great content! These are the things I implement in my high school self-contained classroom. I feel validated in what we do! ❤️ By the way, I LOVE the name of your channel!
Thank you for being here!
Q: How would you set this up if you had say 50 or so students. I've been trying to figure out how to list my students, goals, etc... so I can check off and make quick notes after each session?
Thank you, Heather, for sharing your great content!
GREAT discussion. Gives me lots of hope for neurodivergent kids of future generations.
So happy to find your channel! I’m moving to middle school self contained in August
Middle school is the best! I taught middle for 5 years!
Really? Moving at the end of the year back to middle because I like working with the phonics part.
Do you sell the book?
Yes! The Assessment is in my TPT store: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Life-Skills-Special-Education-Baseline-Assessment-for-All-Grades-5911796
Lots of great tips in here.
